What's your favorite model/revision Rectifier?

What tubes did you put in the amp by the way?

She said that the power tubes are 6l6 SED Winged C's and the rec tubes are NOS Jan 5u4gb's.

I prefer the earlier rectos (Rev C and D), they have this aggression that always brings a smile to my face

I like using JJ's in V1 because they are generally very quiet with low microphonics. I have a lot of guys who love those Tung Sol's but I find them to be bright and brittle. Plus they tend to be more prone to microphonics. When James and I work together, my goal is to send him tubes that will be reliable and sound great.

I just retubed my Racto and messed around with dialing it in some. Sounds better with the new tubes, more organic. I was having some trouble getting it to blend with my Marshall because it had just a hint of a plasticy sound but tonight I was able to get all that out. Really exciting, every time I record it I get a better sound, it's like I'm really starting to learn these beasts. Anyway here a quick clip of the Racto tonight with a Bogner 4x12, 57/421>Neves.

Me too. I also struggled for year recording a recto, I'd hear them sound killer on records but when I recorded them they sounded meh. But now I feel like I'm cracking the code.

Ive tried a ton of different combos in rectifiers and what I found works every single time is a Sovtek 12AX7WC in V1.
I usually use JJ in the high gain slot for V3.

I currently own a Rev C (serial #98) and a tremoverb. I've owned in the past a 3 channel Triple and a rectoverb. The Rev C smokes them all, with the Tverb coming in second. Let's just say my Rev C is among the amps I will never sell. There is no hype.

Normally, I would just go the big bottle KT88/66 combo, but with the collector status of the Rev C, I am too nervous to run big bottles in case something blew and is obviously not replaceable.

I'd say give a quad of Svetlana EL34's a shot. I dig em' in my Triple. Thick, fat and a hard midrange crunch.

Yes it did but I haven't arrived yet...lol It's sitting at the UPS Store, I'm traveling but will be back Friday.

I think you'll find as many opinions as you'll find dudes in this thread.

I favour 6L6s myself. In the past I'd use SED Winged Cs but due to costs I've switched to stock Mesa STR440s (Chinese).

Just got back in town and fired up the triple. Sounds killer. More intense and aggressive then the dual. More low end too. I haven't had a chance to record it yet but I will and get some clips up.
