So Dan, dstroud and I are gonna rock a bunch of pedals with the Plexi Thursday night and post up some files. A rig-talk member just sent me a treble booster for the night and I have a Boss Super Overdrive, Boss Distortion, OCD, TS808, Carl Martin Compressor and Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster.

If anyone in the LA area wants to come by and bring anything you guys are all welcome. I know Darren is bringing some stuff. If you see the Darren tell us what you are bringing. I think he's also bringing a Hot Plate.

Killer!!! Hopefully someone can bring a few of the boutique OD's & boosts to compare too.

It be nice. Not sure what we'll have, this is a super low key thing so whatever shows up is cool with me. But Friedman, Tone Merchants and I are plotting a monster amp event this fall at the studio. :)

   Another amp event sounds killer.

Pedal-wise I have a ClinchFX Ep-Pre, an old Marshall Guv'nor and a Boss GE-10 EQ (the old VH type) I'm not using- if you're interested in hearing any of those I'm happy to ship 'em out.

Old boss GE-10 man did that thing make my old splawn kill! Itd set the splawn to a slight breakup JMP sound and the GE-10 had gobs of VH gain!

I like the Rocket Fuel, OCD, or an emat mods Brownie. The Brownie is amazing for leads through a non MV Marshall. Very violin like tone.
Not the heaviest rhythm tone, but huge for leads. Also like a Keeley modded SD1 for a lot of stuff
I have several more I hate
Would like to try the Paul Gilbert Fuzz Universe pedal by Magic Box, looks really tempting

Those old Guv'nors were killer. I wish I had mine back now.

+1 great pedal

Well we got more pedals comin. Rob from Majik Box said there are no Rocket Fuels right now but he's bringing down a Body Blow overdrive tomorrow, also someone is sending some pedal and think there's a Gov'ner is in the lot. Also I bought a super high gauge short Rapco speaker cable and I used it today and it made a difference, the amp sounded bigger and more powerful. Thursday night it's on!

p.s. On top of the pedals, I got a buddy from gearslutz bringing by some Beyerdynamic ribbon mics for us to try. So this should really be fun.

1968 50-watt plexi here, usually running with a Hotplate as even on 1.5 it's freaking loud. It's louder than any other 50-watter I have played. Running thru 1973 4x12 with Gbs.

I usually run the amp with a bit of breakup but I can get it real clean on single coils. Plug into bright channel (upper left) and don't jumper. EQ is all depending on the tone I want, the Hotplate setting (bright and or deep on).

My favorite pedals at the moment are an Analogman modded Maxon SD9 and an Okko Diablo (TS-based). The SD9 is a killer pedal with a plexi. Anything from a boost to huge massive gain. It cleans up great and the AM-mod makes the tone control usefull (still have to keep it low but doesn't have to be OFF as with the stock model).

Well Rob from Majik Box came by the studio and dropped off a Body Blow. Said it was used a lot on the new Paul Gilbert record and the insperation for the Fuzz Universe. Rob's a cool guy. I also bought a 5 amp Variac for the event. Talked to Friedman today and got some tips on using it, so we are ready to rock. One more package of pedals coming Thursday day and whatever Darren brings Thursday night. Also my Victoria 35210 is being delivered Thursday so we'll crank that amp up. If you've never heard a Victoria you're in for a treat.

looking forward to it!

Looking forward to hearing the results!!

If you have the ability, run the OCD at 18 volts, it makes it a LOT more open sounding.
