When did the Stage II Stilettos come out?

The Stage II's came out less than a year after the S1s....GC was blowing out the S1's. Mesa caught wind of the mod that was being offered at the Hollywood store and pretty much incorporated it into the S2s and Aces. That said, I wouldn't discount the Trident (150w)....a good boost worked wonders on the S1 I had. Plus, the three modes/channel really alotted for some versatility between guitar changes.

I really like the Stiletto Stage II amps (from what I have heard). It was one of the final serious contenders for me.

Thanks guys, the seller said that he bought this Trident about 2 years ago so it could be a stage II and it should have "II" on the right side of the front chassis I believe.

I heard killer clips with a "I" boosted but I have been getting away from boosting lately, probably due to the JVM having plenty of balls out of the box.

if it's not a S2 trident. I have a mint Ace head that I am going to be selling. It's in the plexi looking cabinet.

green jewel light on the Stage II's.

800 is a bargain, they are pretty nice amps and cut like a knife.

they don't really need a boost.

My Stiletto Duece Stage II clips are still on my youtube page. I liked the amp but thought it lacked bottom end. If I tried to crank the bass to high it flubbed out.

Plenty of gain on the Stage I Stilettos also unless you're a pussy :D Seriously, I have a stage I Deuce and it's plenty gainy on the lead channel.

Forgot about that, thanks Jim

It's a Boogie for the Marshall guys who hate boogies, basically. Each channel has three modes, so you can set up the 'clean' channel for crunch and get plexi-JCM800 gain out of it, and then the lead channel has three settings too, so it can go from JCM800 to modern levels of gain.

It ain't going to rattle your bowels like a DR, but it has all sorts of midrange chewy goodness. :D

Don't get the stage I Scott, knowing your preferences I don't think you'll like it. The stage II will fit you better right off the bat without any external gear. Just imo. :)

The stage I's don't hold value as well as the Stage II's either imo, just another factor to consider.

I have heard some peeps get great tones out of the Stage I's, but to appreciate the Stage I you need to come from a certain perspective I suppose.

I liked the stage II tried awhile back, the treble will take your head off if you're not careful though. :)

I do have issues liking my upper sizzle as it is

I remember when Danyeo had a I duece and was yacking about more gain so you could be right. Only reason I am looking is the price tag, really good price and local pickup

How can you lose value if you're already getting it for $800? And again, if you need more gain, you're a poodle skirt wearing cheese eating surrender monkey nancy boy. :D

I'm curious, should probably look to see if anyone has the mod documented just so I can try it. But my stage I is a cool amp is as. I had it running one day with a splitter box along with my rackmount rectifier and the two together sounded like World War III!

Hey man I need some compression as I dont have the chops you slingers have

Listened to Jim's vids and I dig the amp, waiting for the guy to respond as I cannot tell if the jewel light is green or not

The stage I Deuce has nowhere near the gain of a IIC+ or a IV, but the Deuce took well to pedals. HOWEVER, I would be hesistant about it if you're not going to be able to crank it. I really thought the Deuce needed to be turned up a bit to really sound good.

If i had to get a Stiletto i would look at a stage II Deuce or an Ace. I have played the II's and IMHO they're an improvment over the I's.

I used a Fulltone OCD and a Fatboost with mine.
Flavor of the moment as sometimes I'd hit it with the pedals, then other times
just the amp.
I scored my Trident when GC blew them out for $925 brand new.
I think $800 is a sweet price....go to the Boogie Board, find someone to do the Hollywood Mod for ya.

I think I have talked myself out of this, I already have two high gain heads and will stand fast for a Plexi type amp.

I know of a V-Plex going for a good price as well.
