Cameron anything
That's the first thing I thought of...the CCV specifically. I can't believe it took 11 posts for somebody to mention Cameron!

Right now i am going to say Kemper until the Dar FBM starts to come out more.

cameron crossed my mind but not viral in the sense that mark's personal business practices prevented the line/mods from capitalizing when the first wave of interest erupted. it could have been viral if he could have had the partnership with brad, tone merchants, friedman, metro, etc in place initially, he would have been sitting on a lot more sales by now, less bad press, vigilante crowds with torches and pitchforks...

the thing going for him early on was he had the ears and direct first hand jose mod circuit experience, and was elusive..the dumble of the rock amp world...therefore people desired to be one of the select chosen few with a cameron mod.

I think there's a line of thought out there with some people that they have to have something others can't get.

9 years a go it was like that, you just could not get one which kept the re-sales high.

I can sneeze and get anything cameron now but the cameron n00bs still pay top dollar for what reason I do not know. They are not scarce any longer.

Bad Monkey ,, cheap overdrvie that sounds good.
EP booster..

I remember about 5 years ago Edwards ESP imports were on about 50 threads a day, i bought one it was great.

On RT it seems to be Marsha, Hagens, Cameron at the moment

Cameron mods only got really expensive 3 or so years ago....I almost choked the first time I saw someone asking $2500 or $2600 for one....now, it's an entirely different story.

I remember YEARS ago, back when a lot of folks here were still on the old Harmony Central guitar forum, someone, who shall remain nameless, started raving about this amazing hybrid, tube pre, SS power, 3-channel amp. It was the Vanous Evolution. Anyone remember that? The amp and footswitch fit in a small briefcase (included!). There must have been about a bajillion posts on how amazing that thing was. Of course, I had to have one. They weren't cheap. They also weren't a lot of other things they were supposed to be. And therin was my first valuable lesson about internet / guitar forum hype. :)

ah shit. here comes the cameron butt-hurt brigade.

@ Mentoneman: As for Cameron being "viral", I agree with your assertion except that it kind of misses what viral truly is. No doubt the Cameron phenomenon could have been much bigger had he shown an ounce of integrity at any point in his efforts to launch a brand. But viral doesn't necessarily imply any type of success or product popularity...rather its simply a strong reaction to a brand/product. Mark's exploits (and products) have been a popular topic of conversation on this and other forums, the very nature of which has caused him and his products to have a certain level of infamy...a textbook example of "viral".

Exactly......................n00bs were finding out about them 3 YEARS AGO even though the whole diode thing was cracked

Always said if Fortin did not show up I would have owned one of Dave's camerons, no need now.

That's what came to mind when I saw the tread title.

It seems like pedals are more likely to go viral than amps or guitars.

WGS speakers were big news when they first came out....
i still haven't played with a timmy but i've heard them on player's boards. not hearing anything out of the ordinary?

The timmy is a nice transparent overdrive with a powerful EQ. Great pedal, but its still just an overdrive pedal. For $130 or so that I paid for it I would buy it again. Is it the be end all over drive that solved all my gear problems and made me a better player, no :D

i see what you're saying-i equate viral to actually capitalizing on the momentum and success of the product sales in this instance.

it would be interesting to see an actual definition of what amount of interest/traffic constitutes the term "viral" as it applies to internet traffic/popularity. these two seemed to have done virally well if views alone are any indicator.

this might be shallow but i can't get over how strange the kemper looks.

shrink it into a fully functioning footcontroller design, in a rugged briefcase carry shell, and when you flip up the lid it's an ipad dock for edit interface screen, easy to see, well labelled input/output jacks for xlrs, 1/4", speaker outs from the built in stereo power amp, midi, usb
and a compatible kemper plug in app for virtual pedal and rack effects
