My wife decided she wanted to open presents early and gave me funds towards a new amp and cab! I have been gasing for a Mesa Boogie 2x12 vertical cab and a PRS Archon 50 head and am now ready to pull the trigger!

Instead of just adding to cart and purchasing, I wanted to reach out to all of you who have made big purchases with Sweetwater before to see whats the best way to go about getting any additional discounts (if possible) from them. I have purchased little things from them before but not something as large as a cab and amp. Are there discount coupons online somewhere or what is the best etiquette for inquiring about a discount?

Best thing to do is give them a call and talk to your sales rep. Some times you gotta work them a little though.

Find it cheaper somewhere else and let your sales rep know.

find it cheaper and stand your ground. hang up if necessary after giving them your number.

Not going to matter with the MB, price is fixed on that. I've gotten 15% on other items though!

Hmmmm zzounds has a plum archon 50 that's "factory revealed" for 170 off as well. Maybe pick up the can from SW and the head from zzounds!

Listen to me.
They pay for free shipping.

This is what I do, all the time. Tell them I'll split the cost of overnight. Usually ends up being around $50 or something I think it was on my MKV and 2x12. Or maybe it was $100 overnight for both?

The way I think about it is this. Especially this time of year. Shipping guys are probably angry as fuck. The faster an amp moves through the system the better.

I work the fuck out of my sales guy. I bought $30k worth of equipment on a mass order 3 years ago. I milk that purchase to the fucking bone with Sweetwater.

You should be able to get them to match other sites without too much hassle. Usually 15% or so on pretty much anything except for brands like Mesa with a fixed pricing model. I got my Archon brand new for 15% off from Sweetwater.

Mark is a good guy. He also will follow up and make sure you are happy after you get it.

I think I spoke to my rep once...I was shopping for my Tremonti and he never even returned my calls with pricing...hopefully they will let me work with someone else.

I've been toying with the idea of Mesa vertical 2x12 and a PRS Archon also

They'll have no problem with that. I'm sure guys here will recommend a good salesman. Mine's Randy Akins. He always calls after I make a purchase to make sure all is good.

Tell him Jamie Brown sent ya. He will charge you more....just kiddin

Yeah, Mark is my guy as well. Always works with me on some sort of discount. I don't work him hard, but I do ask what he can do for me. He always follows up and gets on your order right away to make sure it goes out as soon as possible.

Another bump for Mark Stein. Good guy and handled my issue with my last order without question. They're making it right. Give him a call.

Yeah, RARELY will and Boogie dealer budge on price. One reason is you need to provide a receipt for warrantee work (either you provide, or Boogie will get it from their authorized dealer). If you got something for a discount, Boogie will not honor any repair work and all costs will fall upon the dealer. Sounds shitty to the customer, but that's the breaks. The way around it is to have a dealer sell to you for a discount and provide you with two receipts...One for what you paid and one for what you should have paid.

Sweet water wouldn't budge on price for a Mesa Boogie cabinet. I tried to buy two at once for a discount, they wouldn't do it.

Im not too concerned with the cab price. Anyone have experience with the wiggle room on PRS amps?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread you should be able to get around 15% on PRS stuff. I did when I ordered my Archon recently. It doesn't hurt to ask them to match Musician's Friend (MF will always give you 15% without much haggling). If you use the online chat with MF to get a quote and just straight up ask for 15% they will give it to you 9/10 times.

That's a good idea using the chat feature, I'll let you know what they say! If they really will give me 15% off I may just go for the archon 100!

Thanks!
