When US Conservatives support Russia you know things are a mess.

I don’t care what people believe. It’s a free-ish country. Some people believe we landed on the moon. Some people believe a magic immortal dude allowed himself to be crucified to pay for our sins and then he rose from the dead. Some people believe men can get pregnant. Makes no difference to me as long as you’re not trying to force your beliefs on me.
What you are missing is orthodoxy is your number one go-to weapon to fight against all the things happening that you detest.

Come on dude, you’re a smart guy. I know your reading comprehension skills are better than that.

“ as long as you’re Russian orthodox, blah blah blah, something something about jehovahs witnesses blah blah “. Remember now ?
Well that's not what Putin is saying or promoting. I don't know what purpose it would serve to hold yourself out as respecting different religions and then oppress and persecute them. But sure, maybe that's what's happening. Do you have some kind of evidence for it?

Nope. Just what I found in about 2 minutes with a cursory google search. 4 Jehovah Witnesses being prosecuted.

In reality none of those things actually affect me. I hear people on the radio telling me I should be outraged but so far at least none of that shit has had any bearing on me whatsoever.

They are prosecuting regular christians who were praying at abortion clinics right here in the states. Never mind the intimidation among churches here to "stand in solidarity" and close down during the pandemic. The witnesses are a known cult so they are not received very well in a lot of places, no doubt your doorstep being one of them. Scientology, also a cult, is heavily regulated in Russia.

You aren't an island. They do affect you when your tax money is being allocated to trans surgeries and housing illegals. You should think it through.

Okay fine, I agree that's bullshit. Regardless I haven't argued that Russia is some beacon of freedom and so on. From wikipedia: "On December 1, 2015, a Rostov Regional Court convicted 16 Jehovah's Witnesses of practicing extremism in Taganrog, with five given 5+1⁄2-year suspended sentences and the remainder were issued fines they were not required to pay.[3]"

To VB's point, for example with the abortion protesters, it's not so different here. It's just more underhanded. This is going back a decade and longer. And although these designations aren't necessarily law, they open up all kinds of avenues for surveillance, harassment and so on.

For the record, even though I am not Christian, I regularly stand up for them. I know they are under attack from the left. I also know they could help themselves and solidify the conservative base if they would quit trying to inject God into everything. And quit worrying about abortion. If someone wants to have an abortion it's fine with me. As long as it isn't mine or I'm not paying for it. And there needs to be reasonable limits. None of this 7 months along abortion shit. And completely defund planned parenthood and zero government funding for anything related to it.

God/Christ is pretty much central to the Christian existence so it's like me saying I stand up for guitarists but they need to quit trying to inject amps and pedals into the discussion. It's part of the gig. I have a conservative friend who prior to the last governor's race said "now Abbott will lose Texas because he took on abortion". There are fights that worth fighting even if it means losing. Doing the right thing is not usually doing the easy thing.

Dude, your god doesn't come into play when we are discussing laws I must abide by. A discussion is not the same thing as making laws for other people to live by based on shit they don't believe in.

US jurisprudence is grounded in Mosaic law my good man.

Name a single constitutional law that is dependent on the faith or belief of some deity. And you can't say things like "The Ten Commandments say thou shalt not kill", because god doesn't have a patent on that. In fact The Code of Hammurabi is nearly identical and precedes the Ten Commandments by over a thousand years.

How many links did you want? This is common knowledge in the legal realm.
