i just got a copy of this concert.Zakk kills it the whole show.

the first few minutes are the regular run of the mill show off stuff,but thats what metal guitarists did.but it gets better as it goes along.

i think Zakk is great then and now.tho,i can see why peeps say he is treading water,but doesn't bother me none.i know what i'm getting when i purchase a BLS cd.and i'm right up at the front of the line with each release.

I jst went to the Thin Lizzy/BLS/Judas Priest show the other night. I loved the BLS set but wish Zakk wasn't so cookie cutter for his solo. He has been doing the same shit forever. I wish he was more like the young Zakk in this video. He needs to stop with the chromatic stuff as he over does it these days.

I remember first time I saw him playing with Ozzy. Great playing and stage presence. I thought:-Yep... Ozzy did again!

He is god aweful these days. So sloppy too ... and what is with the vibe and wah all the time jesus...

Back then he was machine gun precise with his chops but still, compared to Randy and Jake, he lacks a certain musicality though i digged the No Rest and No More Tears era big time and was a big fan. I also liked the first Pride and Glory. Shout out for that CD because it was raw and showcased some great songwriting. Even Book of Shadows had some great stuff. After that ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I'd say that's a good run though. His tone in this clip is killer.

actually when i first heard BLS' "bored to tears" i couldnt stand it.i'm not a fan of the drop tuning music.
but has since grown on me.
i dont even own "no more tears".to me,too commercial.
for some reason i never bought P&G either.

off to itunes!
 
Zakk is still a monster on guitar and one of my favorites.
 
Pride and Glory, that first album, awesome. So raw..good southern rock.
 
Many people will say he is over rated .
I don't think so personally ,even though he really has not done that much in the past 10 years the first 2 records are so strong.
In addition his age ,and he had to step into the shoes of Jake ,Randy. He did a remarkable job.
No more tears I would bet is one of Ozzy's biggest records to date it has all the elements Huge rhythms ,great leads .some southern rock influenced stuff and just great songs

If you look at the vid 5:42 through 6:03 that is that is the Tower Theater from the mulitple arch ways to the pillar balcony rail, the spectrum didnt have anything that fancy it was just concrete..
The balcony shots looked weird to me because they were so close so I started looking closer at the background..
Never knew he played small places like that..

Zakk calls those years "gumby zakk"

there was a recent interview about the tour coming up that he's testing his new JCM800's and he talks about the watermark on the back of his signature guitars that show that zakk near the end.

Zakk's like yngwie in a sense that he has mastered the instrument and can write amazing music with his style, but there are alot of songs that get old fast......just the same stuff that's already been done at least once before. wish he could write more material like pride and less like the BLS.
