I need a pickguard that will fit EMGs. Like most strat type pickguards I noticed the one on my Charvel isnt big enough to fit my EMGs. Can I just order one for Fender or do I need to get it from a certain place?

My understanding is that a standard, 11-hole, Fender strat pickguard will work. Warmoth has them.

How far off is it from fitting the EMG's? I would probably just relieve the pickup holes in the pickguard you have, either with light sanding or careful scraping with a razor blade.

just barely off man. I would just do the sanding and such but i might just order a new one. I tried to do the passive thing but damnit I miss my emgs.

Kyle, what EMG do you like better in alder guitars? I've always heard that the 85 sounds real good in alder, but I've never tried it.

Isn't the Floyd cut much bigger than the standard Fender trem cut in those pickguards?

There are places like Pickguardian and Pickguard Paradise that do custom pickguards. I think they can make one if you send them a tracing of the pickguard you want to replace.

Hey Mark... well im not Kyle but i thought id give my opinion too anyway :D

I tried the 81 and the 85 both in the bridge of an Alder bodied superstrat i used to own. Out of the two.. i really disliked the 85 in the bridge, the 81 seemed to sound better to me as the 85 just sounded too fat.

Well I might like the 85 then, because I think the 81 sounds way too thin and harsh in alder.

I love the 85 no matter what type of wood. I just love that pickup unconditionally.

I found the 81 to be the same exactly.. BUT the 81 was still sounding better to my ears than the 85.

But that said, im 110% definitly not an EMG guy.. i tried the 85, 89, 81, 60 and hated them all haha! :D Im way into passives!
