Where do you all get tubes?

My ultra needs power tubes. It's a 60 watt so only need 2....Any recommendations on where and what kind? jc....
 
I usually hit tube depot. I've always had good luck there though a particular tube might not always be the cheapest if you go bargain hunting. I don't know what tubes sizes you needed cause I don't know what an ultra is. I use 6L6 in my stuff and I like the JJ's.

peavey ultra plus combo....60 watt.....sorry should have been more clear.
 
Eurotubes .... Tube Depot .... sometimes Sweetwater
 
The ultra is a fixed bias like a mesa so I can basically throw about anything in there correct? should I go with something different? 5881's?
 
Customer service at Tube Depot is awesome!
They even went and pulled different 12ax7's off the shelf to measure length for me.
I built a Princeton and used a Celestion Alnico Gold, big bell, some tubes were big enough to be up against the bell.
Measured tubes until they came across one that fit.

Also, tube base came apart on a tube (different time), they immediately sent a replacement on their dime.
 
I often like wafer-base Sovtek 5881 but I don’t know best place to get them now, since Russia invaded Ukraine. And not familiar with that amp.

But I wanted to mention that if you buy tubes from a foreign tube vendor (or at least, certain foreign tube vendors) and you have to return them, you’re kind of screwed.
 
I used to buy from Doug’s tubes but his inventory has been very limited since the pandemic. Last 2 times I’ve bought from evilbay since I want something other than JJs.

Agreed.
I was very high on Doug for awhile there. He was always so responsive the he talked me into trying a JAN 5751 as a PI tube.
I did buy my SED =C= EL34s from Laura and sucks she's out.
Tube Depot is def not a bad choice.
I used to dog on Eurotubes but that's where I go now. My last sets of 6L6s, EL34 II's and EL34L's were from them. And a probe or two.

Yeah he was a very cool dude for sure. I mostly get my tube recommendations from all you guys and HCAF back in the day, but everytime I asked for his recommendations, he knocked it out of the park for what I was trying to achieve. He knows his shit!

Yeah - he would recommend tubes that I never ever would have considered and they always worked great. That and he shipped super fast and would always update you with text messages. Over the top customer service.
 
I recently bought from Doug's & Tube Depot. Both solid & quick ships.
