Its been said, When you reach a point of stardom and fame, able to have any and everything, you get bored or feel there is still something lacking and start trying crap you wouldnt normally do. My best friend had some of the greatest talent on guitar I ever saw, without a lesson. Just picked up the guitar and it poured out of him. He had 4 cd's worth of music and a recording label so interested in him that when he fucked up and the band broke up they said they just wanted him and his music and they would hire musicians to play whatever he wanted. He has a heroin addiction that ruined it all. He kept trying to go somewhere in his mind and musically that he never could get to. Reminded me of Jim Morrison, that he would take any drug put in front of him even when he was all ready on other things, Im surprised he isnt dead. So much talent and now all he is doing is running around BS ing people and shooting herion. I still have all the recordings and one song we wrote together and when I hear it, It brings back the day, time and place that it all came together. that was 16 yrs ago. Now I have no patience for anyone doing drugs and wasting there life.

Sorry for the Venting. ;)

drugs are bad

amoxicillin is a good drug, especially after a trip to Mexico :D

Well, maybe we'll get to see Jake on an upcoming episode of 'Pawnstars'

I'm kidding of course.. :student:

He looks pretty good in those pics and video.

Not what I'd think a meth head would look like.

I agree. If he had been doing meth for years, I would think that he'd look a lot worse than that. That shit ravages people.

Like some others have said here, sometimes methheads don't look like the typical one you see in those before/after photos. I had a friend who had been doing it for years and he always kind of looked like a big guy who you wouldnt mess with before thinking twice so you never can tell. I had my own problems with it over 15 years ago and I would dwindle down to a stick figure on it, it hits some people more physically than others. But it does screw your brain up. It fries certain parts of your brain that are kept working constantly for days as opposed to normally when those parts are going on and off at a normal rate and then you sleep. I was reading about meth on wikipedia one night and it's just a mindblower what this stuff does to your brain. Think of a 2 stroke engine just kept on high revs for days and that's what this shit does to your heart and brain.

Is it just me or did that video sound like a open mic at the corner bar. Ouch...

2 more weeks and I will be in Vegas at the Palace Station. I will let ya all know what I find out.

Sad stuff for sure, but I heard he's been a junkie for a long time now. I heard he and most of the Badlands band were shooting heroin back, so him being an addict is not new news. Wouldn't be surprised to hear it went back to the Ozzy days since drugs were probably available like M&M sitting in a candy dish.

But as other's said, at some point you need to man up and make a decision as to how you want to live your life. Guess he chose drugs, trailers, and strippers - not the 1st one to go down that road...
I hung out with Jake for an evening after he played a gig (Mandy Lion on vocals...awful!) sometime over the winter of '93-'94...he was straight as an arrow and very talkative about Ray and Badlands. First off, the "bad blood" was over Ray's heroin use and the damage that it was doing to the band...Jake was not using the drug. He was still very upset over Ray's passing, and obviously a bit pissed that Ray had gotten himself involved with a shady crowd.

Here's a picture of us from that night:

As for his alleged current drug use, I've heard all the rumors, but nothing from anybody close to him, that he is in fact an addict. I do have a a forum bud who is a friend of Mike Varney's who claims to know for a fact the Jake is NOT an addict...he's just become jaded with the business and became somewhat of a recluse. I have yet to hear any of the people who supposedly "know" that he's a junkie site their source (including in this thread) so until any of them step and do that, or at the very leasy explain hiow they know, I'll withold judgement.

WOW!
Jake was one of my Hero's, growing up.
I hope he gets it together, before he becomes another statistic.
He was packed full of talent, here's one of my fondest concert
memories when I was a teenager.

Jake was born on the 15th of feb, your a few days early!

Think you're right -didn't google it, but - funny related Ozzy show story:

I recall as a kid the fact that as kids we were surprised that after Randy's death Ozzy was back on the road so fast - saw the "Speak of the Devil" tour almost a year to the day after the Diary tour with Randy. We were expecting to see Brad Gillis (he was in the tour program) but when the curtain came up it was Jake, then still known (and announced as) Jakey Lou Williams. Anyway, he KILLED that night, nailed Randy's stuff (IMO still think he did better than Zakk ever did), was doing the tremolo licks by bending the neck, amazing. We're like "Who the F is this guy, he's pretty bad ass!"

So at the encore Ozzy says something like "Give my new guitar player, Jakey Lou Williams a hand. It's actually his birthday tonight..." and at that moment a couple of crew types snuck up behind him with this huge deli tray filled with whipped cream - and proceed to slap it directly on top of the poor guy's head....  He kind of stood there for a second like "Great. Thanks." :scared: then laughed about it...

He did the encores laughing his ass off, slinging whipped cream into the front row with his hair...but the dude never missed a beat.

Amazing player and huge influence, loved Badlands...
I for one seriously hope the disgruntled recluse rumors are true, rather than the other option.

Haha cool story bro, Jake's birthday is the same as my little boys.

I meet him outside the The Marquee in London in 92, I was 13 at the time!! My brother took me to see Badlands, as my parent though I was to young to go without some one older! We hung around after the show to waiting for a ride home, and Jake & Greg just appeared and there was no one else waiting around so they signed stuff and hung around for a chat. I still have the flyer that they signed.

maybe one day he will do some new material....love his style....was one of the main reasons I started playing guitar.
