Where to get truss rod rescue kit cheaper?

my stingray bass' truss rod has lost its threads and the die is $160 which is a bit expensive imho....anybody have any ideas?

Maybe you could get a machine shop to make you something that would work. Dies of that thread size are cheap, but too big to fit in that area. I guess that is why the tool is so expensive, custom made.

....musicman tell me that they dont sell replacement truss rods, and dont offer repairs....only option would be sending my neck and they sell me a new one for about $800. Thread size is 1/4 x 28 and stew mac doesnt have that die size

That seems to be a pretty specific, proprietary Die.. If you want the Bass, I'd do it. Custom designed for your needs..
