I have a budget of $500 USD for a loaded cab.
The 2x12's I'm currently considering are either a Vader or a Splawn.
Tell me which 2x12 cab you'd get and why.
:)

Well, my vader 212 gets here today, and Ill hopefully have a few to play through it before I have to keep moving shit, and hopefully Ill be able to post a review and compare it to the buzzbomb...

mesa 2x12's are in that price range too. I had one for a year or so and i really liked it a lot. It sounded great when it was really pushed at loud volumes and since it's a mesa, the build quality is very solid.
I sold it later so i could buy another 4x12 though. Not because i didn't like the cab, just because i wanted more 4x12 cabs

Vaders for live sound and durability.

Splawn for recording and tolex options.

Both are top notch. FWIW I have a vader. :D

Im thinking the key to the vader cabs is gonna be the speakers, but idk yet...

What about the Bogner oversized 2x12"? Is this cab in the running?

Mesa's 2x12 Recto cab is very hard to beat.

I've heard great things about Bogner's 2x12 over-sized, but never played one myself.

You should be able to get a custom, loaded Emperor 2x12 for that price.

I'd look for a cab that is 14" deep, like a 4x12 is.
Most 2x12's are only 12" deep.

Yup, and like my Randall 2x12. Mesa too I believe. Vader might be as well.

That's an awesome cab man. I'd love to get one myself. Do they ship to Canada? I want one in that ebony finish.

Vaders are 14 inches deep.

Also, I LOVE my earcandy buzzbomb...if you can find one used, grab it. New, they are over your budget and have like an 8 month wait time or something ridiculous. Its a badass fucking cab though.

Try out the Port City 2x12. I've heard nothing but great things from people who use that cab. Many describe it as good as a 4x12.

I went from a Marshall 4x12 to a Mesa 2x12 for portability. Mesa had no bottom end and sounded very honky. This was with v 30's So I swapped in a Splawn Small Block and a Eminence Governer. Still sounded very thin and honky. Then tried some 75's.Nope.
I sold it (for more than i paid ;) ) and bought an unloaded Splawn off a guy on HC cheap. Put the Small Block and Governer in that. Holy hell what a difference. It sounds huge. Almost on par with the 4x12 which is in my basement collecting dust now. I don't know if its the Mesas relatively small size but the Splawn cab totally owns it.

Was that Mesa open or closed back, Recto or standard size?

I like my Vader 2x12. Very durable, and great sound. Although, I have come to find out that it doesn't really record well. Much better for live use.

It's been said, but you can get a Mesa 2x12 loaded with V30's for $300 if you keep an eye peeled. Then you can sell the speakers if you don't want them and get some other ones! Yes!

Dude, I have a 212 Recto as my main cab (English v30's) and there's bass for days if you want it! Not sure why you didn't have the low end going on with yours, but mine is punchy as hell with nice low end and a great balanced tone.
