So I just got the new EVH 5150 III 50 watt.

I need a cab and under $500. There's a Splawn 2x12 for $400 and a Dr. Z Best 2x12 for $500.

Splawn as 2 Hellatone 30's, which is just a broken in G12H 30 70th Anniversary, the same speakers in the new EVH 2x12s. The Dr. Z Best has a mix of Celestion Vin30/G12H 30 70th Anniversary.

Point of difference. I may want to run these cabs vertically. The EVH will fit perfectly on the Splawn, but lose about .5" on the Dr. Z.

Thoughts??

For the 5150III I'd probably go with the splawn. Dr. Z's are supposed to be amazing though, don't think you could go wrong with either choice.

Dr. Z is a thiele ported cab incase your weren't too familiar with them. They sound different when turned vertical or horizontal. It's a great cab. The Splawn might be better suited for your application but don't count out the Z best. Style of music might determine your choice too. Good Luck.

Got it. I'm definitely leaning toward the Splawn. Thanks!
