When he says blacking out I think he's refering to a sharpie or something similar not a huge gob of silicone shit that's a PITA to remove if it needs to be serviced.

Thanks for posting why builders do not go to that site and why builders should protect their work![]()

Gooping is pretty stupid and piss ignorant. Blacking out component values is fair game. If an amp builder wants to goop, he should be prepared to service. I find that a gooped amp is usually a sign that the mod is actually copied from someone else and the "gooper" is protecting his copied circuit from being seen by the "goopee" and thwarting potential public shame or an ass-whoopin.
The amp is mine, I bought it, and I didn't request a ball of shit on every component. Goop is also used for shit soldering.
Steve
We will have to agree to disagree.
When is the last time you had a failure with the tone stack part of the amp that conponets needed to be replaced? Lets make a thread and find out from serious years of experience.
Blacking out how? As in total removal of all values? That is the same thing, the only way to get it serviced is through the builder.
Not sure where you are pointing this responce to but you are way off, trust me I know. What does conformal coating have to do with soldering?????
Just name the name you are directing this to, stop beating around the bush.

There's different ways to protect a circuit other than a glob of shit, is all I am say bro.........

A nice pre-form that lays on the board and you pour in the expoxy, nice and neat and keeps the lovely little bitches from gaining knowledge.
You can pick your color![]()

I believe sah5150 mentioned the CCV has all or some of the components flipped upside down on the pcb à la Engl style if I'm not mistaken so you can't see them without pulling the pcb.
I wonder if the production version will be the same way...

Why would you even need to take the pictures then?
His work is some of the finest i've ever seen, that's why one of my JMP's are in his shop as we speak.psychodave":4z5rikq5 said:charveldan":4z5rikq5 said:I didn't take the photo's.psychodave":4z5rikq5 said:charveldan":4z5rikq5 said:I have Friedman JMP gutshots now, but they don't go on forums or the internet out of respect for Dave.![]()

But you have them! For what need? Out of respect for the modder I would have expected you to not accept the pictures or deleted them ?
I didn't delete them![]()

I did have a splawn qr it was a well built amp in all do respect but I just could not bond with it. And thanks guys for the replies to the op. It sure is funny how a simple question about 3 different amps gets so off the track.![]()
