Hey gang, I've always been interested in trying out some Creambacks in an X-Pattern with V30s and decided to pop open one of my Mesa Cabs to prep it for the swap. My only question is.. Which is the Creamback of choice? G12H-75? G12M-65? Neo Creamback? Celestion Cream?

The G12H-75's have tighter low end, which is what kids crave.
The G12M-65's have crunchy uppers, which is what the youths love.
The Neo-Creambacks weigh less, which is what gruntles us older leaning folks.
The Celestion Cream makes me feel like a dirty bird saying it and I don't think I can allow them in my wholesome household.

My V30s are rated to 60W, which makes my brain want to go with The One: Neo (because they're 60w too).. But I don't know jack diddly squat about these speakers. I like the V30's, but I want to tame that mid range bump on my V30s and make ME cream. Help me cream, gang.

What say you?

M65/v30 is great in my cheap Harly Benton 2X12 (V30 below)

How aggressive of a top end can you handle?

The H-75’s add some sizzle and remove that mid hump of V30s but if your amp is already cutting heads off, it’s not going to be any better with this speaker. It does sound great with Marshall’s though. I actually want a cabinet of splawn small blocks and H-75s in X pattern.

I hate anything G12H-65 related. They do not play well with 5150 style amps and in a weird mids kind of way.

Hand trucks are cheaper than neos

You’ll want to match within 2dB sensitivity of the V30s. That is the defacto perceived loudness value that your ears will be able to tell which speaker is being heard over another. The max wattage rating is just a power handling metric.

You could do 3dB difference in sensitivity, but it needs to compliment well, and I’d be looking at switching to top and bottom setup over X pattern accordingly to compensate (higher sensitivity on bottom, lower sensitivity on top)

I just removed 2 Splawn small block 55s that were in an X in my Splawn with creamback 65s. Put the creambacks up top and installed 2009 V30s on bottom.
Had to drop High end a tiny bit compared to before, but so far I'm liking it.
