I currently have a stiletto 4x12 that can be ran stereo but really am looking into the 1x12 game since theres no way i'll be carrying around 2 4x12's. I've heard a lot of things about the Thiele cabs but was wondering if anybody has had any experience with any of the other cabs. Been looking at the new mini recto cabs and they seem real sturdy and come with V30's which i like. Also curious about the wide body closed back 1x12's. Would like to get the ones that will be able to handle the most power and I'd ideally use the 1x12's and my main cabs for portability reasons thus I want something that can hang onstage with a full band and drummer. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I'd probably look for one of the Mesa Thiel cabs. Killer cabs. If you're concerned about power handling you could switch to something like an Eminence Delta pro at 400w.

I have a 3/4 back widebody 1x12 with a C90, great little cab ans sounds huge for its since.

I have 2 of the Recto 1x12 cabs with V30's, sound great for their size and seem to project well, better than 4x12 of to the sides. Nicely built chunky heavy duty cabs.

For your criteria - just get a Theile. Great low end, power. EVM 12L can handle anything. If you can Find them I like the Pacific Woodworks Thieles more. But they are all really good. My small gig rig:

I've really been thinking about the new recto mini stack 1x12's. They seem to have a lot of girth and come with V30's.

Im planning on buying the cabs new and from what i've read the new Thiele cabs come loaded with C90's and I'd really prefer to have either V30's or the EV12L's. I'd go straight for the Thiele based on how many success stories I've heard about them but i just cant bring myself to pull the trigger since I'm not huge on C90's. My goal is to pick whichever cabs will sound great in studio and still hold up for live usage. Clearly i wont use 1x12's when playing a huge show but at the same time I want to be able to get a good amount of volume going and not have to worry too much about the life of the speaker.

I hear ya. Why new? Lots of minty, old thieles floating around.

These are amazing if you can find them. I found 2 pairs in the last year, so they are out there.

Well main reason for going the new route is that i know what ever pair i end up buying will be exactly the same as far as specs and condition wise. Less having to worry about any discrepancies between two cabs even if they are the same model with the same speaker namely because of the age factor when it comes to older mesa gear. I actually just ended up pulling the trigger on 2 new Mini Recto 1x12 straight cabs from sweetwater. I use a Mark V head and my main 4x12 is a Traditional 4x12 with V30's so I was really wanting similar tone in a smaller package. Plus i do a lot of mostly high gain playing I think the new mini recto's will compliment that aspect of my playing as well as sounding good at everything in between. Since they're new if i dont like them i can always just return them, which wouldn't be as easy if i went the used route. I definitely know what you mean about the Pacific woodworks 1x12's. I know they used to be the go to set back in the day for studio pro's and I'll definitely be picking them up if i ever find a good pair when i have the extra money.

Mesa Thieles get my vote, they sound great. The Mesa recto 112s are nice too, but I prefer the thieles, the Thieles just sound more full to my ears.

I am in the exact same situation. I am considering either the 1x12 Thiele or the 1x12 Mini Recto. I would jump on the Thiele but I have hesitations about the C90 speaker. I like the warm sound of the V30 in the 2x12 horizontal which I own (but I need 1x12s since that one too heavy to carry.)

How did you like the 1x12 Mini Recto? Still work and sound good for your gigs?

Most used Thiele's should have 12Ls, not hard to find. I have a pair of Bogner Cubes with V30s. I like the Thieles much better, but combing a Thiele 12L and Cube V30 is pretty sweet.

I looked at those but they are out of production. I really only buy new gear for the most part.

I have one of these too with a Governor in it. Good sounding cab. A long head fits perfectly on top. You can still find them around. I think a paid about $250 unloaded used, mint condition. The closed back widebody cabs are still available new,

holy thread revival.

I paid $249 loaded for mine off of eBay a long while ago. I didn't have to pay shipping as I picked it up from North Dallas GC.
