I guess what you're saying is that you need to sell your IIC+/++ Coliseum to me and I will just have to deal with it not living up to the hype...I can live with that.

:haha: I do think the C+ sounds better recorded. The right tool for the right job!

I'm in the process of only owning Colis, and life is good.

The Mark IV is in kind of a weird place for me- it's too big for a good bedroom amp & too small for the band. It just sounds really damn good for home play... I've had the thought to cash in on it since the market is so hot & get a little Five 25 for the bedroom, with a headphone jack as a bonus.

Imo that's a mistake to look over a SG+/++
Mine is crushing, super brutal. Tommy will chime in I'm sure. I have a non reverb model and I recently got my M180 back from Mike the day before yesterday in fact and it has the STR416 across the board exactly like the Coliseum. That bitch slaved will put out and together you can only imagine the damage at hand. Back to the 60w, it is knarly and pissed off as any amp anybody owns, period.

Maybe it's different for me bc all my IIC+/++ are non reverb models and from what I hear that's what I prefer. It may be time to roll some tubes in the preamp, something just sounds off. No way should anything be whoopin ass all over that IIC+/++ bro...it did take a long ride in the brown van across the country, not good for any amp.

Of the 6 C+ I've owned, the 60W SR I had without question had the best pure tone. I regret selling it, and the new owner is keeping it. :) Prices are too nuts to go after another one now.

Generally speaking for II and III the 60s are my second favorite model behind the Colis. Pissed off pentode little effers!

I've had two B+, six C/C+/C++, and 5 III. (and 2 IV, 2 V and a JP) Mike has serviced all of my II/III/IV so they're all good to go. I'm pretty comfortable with what the natural differences are between the amps, it just is what it is- like you said- personal preference!

The B+ KRG has the super pissed off thing like the 60 watters have, but with 180 watts. The C+ are just more... refined. Which is why they record better IMO.

I actually wrote a new song today for my band & recorded a scratch pad version of the guitar & vocals to hash out the idea. I used the IIB+, all amp. One thing with that amp is if I bring the 2200 slider up it really fixes the issue with getting lost in the recorded mix. It still doesn't sound like the C+ though, they're just different amps. Here it is if you want to hear it.

Yep, my first was an SRG C+ and it was the best of all from a pure tonal standpoint; not including the power/thump factor. And, if I’m honest it was even a little better yet as a C before the upgrade..sacrilege I know but it had the best most raw, open tone of any amp I’ve ever owned. Killed as a + but lost some of the rawness in favor of the smooth + mod.

Agree with you both. My SG++ is such a pissed off, vicious little beast. Tone wise I definitely prefer it to my III++ Coli, but the sheer power and clarity of the Coli is next level. Shit, next two levels. The SG slaved into the Coli is as good as it gets. :worship:

Hey Ted I threw this boosted comparo together today, partially for you :) While I do think the IIC+ records a little better, the IIB Coli is the most bad ass brutal mothereffing amp I've ever jacked into. You can hear it here, especially in the beginning of the riff, it will RIP YOUR FACE OFF!!
