Just started looking for a desk.
Wondering what others are using for their goodies.

I like the Dual 4 space and 2 level things I’ve seen. Prices range and I really wonder what sets different desks apart and what anyone else has found useful, necessary, not worth it.

Appreciate the help

I had that producer station on musiciansfriend for a few years but now I just have a flat desk, stands for my monitors, and a separate rack to the side. got tired of having to look up to my screens on top of 4 rack spaces. That desk was sturdy for cheap though, worth looking at if you need something.

Yeah, I never cared for having to look up at my screens. So, I just found a big L-shaped flat desk at Office Depot (or one of those kinds of stores, maybe Staples). Bought some monitor stands and a couple of nice (but cheap) racks and I'm good to go.

I have the Producer Station mentioned above. I like it and it's large enough I use it as a general purpose desk. I have horizontal computer chassis that I set in the bottom of one of the side racks. I put rackmount drawers in it, and then I put all of my old (infrequently used) rack gear in one side. I put the recording gear I have in the upper rack. I've had it several years. It's very sturdy and works fine for me. Ironically, I've never gotten around to hooking everything up to record!

Looking up to the monitors does take getting used to, but it isn't too bad once I adjusted. I set my chair a little higher, and set the computer keyboard on top of the desk, just to make that difference a bit smaller. You'll have to decide for yourself whether this is worth dealing with. I will say that at $500 it's a good deal for a flat-pack desk of that size, with quality on par with IKEA normal desks. Basically, I'd recommend that company.

I went with the Argosy Halo Ultimate. It pretty much slays.

Everything visible and at arms reach.

^how much was that if you don’t mind me asking^

Argosy stuff is pricy, a home studio can make use of that money elsewhere. Their stuff pops up used sometimes though.

Whatever you go with get something metal... ie no crappy mdf, pressed, or manufactured wood. It will fall apart eventually.

Big +1 on the Argosy desk Jer linked above. Very choice.

Great ideas guys, thanks
Jer, that desk is gorgeous!!

Musicians Friend has 25%off right now, so I grabbed a Producer Station for CHEAP!
I’m all for the Argosy in the long term, just needed something now.
Can’t shell out that kinda $$ yet.

Producer Station was under $400 after discount.

I got this and the Raven MTi2 at the same time so got a good deal. The desk is usually $2349. I saved a few hundred all together and got 48 months at 0%. This was about 8 months ago but the wife just got it paid off. Definitely would have not gone this spendy if not for the great financing and my wife’s money management skills! Lol!

I kind of went a different route...I wanted a workbench that would also serve as a workstation. Any time I want to work on a guitar, I just move the keyboard and mouse and I'm good to go.

This is an American Workbench "Patriot", which is 6'x2' (72"x24"). It's also 'bar' height (36"), which is good for me since I'm 6'4" and I prefer to stand when changing guitar strings or butchering a song in Logic. They're very customizable, and typically are less than $700.

Pricey yes, but considering it's built to last for generations, I have absolutely no regrets.

Nice practice/work area. I prefer benches too.

How the hell do you guys keep your desk so free from s̶h̶i̶t̶ clutter? I have like a billion usb, power and guitar cables all wrapped up in midi cables and the occasional used kleenex just sitting there lol... I can't be the only slob lol

You should see what's stashed behind my Raven!!! LOL!

I recently (about a month ago) switched to use a Pottery Barn office desk that my wife bought years ago for her use, but never used it. We got it on clearance at the time. Before that I used a regular desk with no features, just 4 legs, got it on clearance at Pier One Imports, sturdy and lasted me 10+ years.

I have a fold up cheapo thing desk that sets behind it that holds gear and monitors on speaker stands behind that. I’ve never been able to come up with a reason for myself to spend $$$$ on desks when plain Jane works for me. I’ll load up a pic when I get home tonight because my description probably sounds bad.

I like those Producer desks. I had a Creation Station for a while. I thought about upgrading to the Argosy (love Jer's desk),but it was a bit too pricy for me and couldn't find exactly what i wanted so i built my own.

Man I WISH I was handy enough and had the workspace to do it. My buddy got the schematic to one of the huge Argosy desks and built it himself with top notch materials for like... $400!!! LOL! I offered to pay him double to build me one but he wasn't having it!

Yea well i'm not handy enough to build anything close to an Argosy. LOL
