Which Wah?

For years I used a Crybaby that I modded with a rotary switch (like a varitone). Worked fine and had a few different sounds going on. I then got hold of a Thomas Organ Crybaby from the 70's and have sold off the modded one. Done.

I tried the Ernie Ball wah due to space restrictions on my pedalboard (has top mounted jacks and is same size as the vol jr's) and its really pretty good if a bit generic, but it works fine for those times when I need a wah for my band. That said I like my RMC but couldnt tell you which model it is (it's red if that helps). It's more in line w/Cantrel type of sound to me.

Wilson 12 position Rippah Wah kicks ass and is super versatile.

I really like the regular Dunlops and especially the Cantrell. It has a good sweep on it. But, I usually end up with the Morley Tremonti on the pedal board. Like an accelerator pedal, step and release. Tone wise, it isn't near that of a Dunlop, but, I sometimes have a problem disengaging the Dunlop while playing. I wish Dunlop would design a pedal with their guts and tone and put it in a pedal design like that of the Morley.

Wilson, Teese, RMC all make some great sounding wahs IMO. The CAE is nice too. But I agree with Steve, the Tremonti is so easy to use, has a wide sweep, and is idiot proof. Also been using my modified Crybaby a lot. Sounds killer! (Work done by XSSIVE)

The Dunlop 95Q has that "step and release" feature.

I really like the regular Dunlops and especially the Cantrell. It has a good sweep on it. But, I usually end up with the Morley Tremonti on the pedal board. Like an accelerator pedal, step and release. Tone wise, it isn't near that of a Dunlop, but, I sometimes have a problem disengaging the Dunlop while playing. I wish Dunlop would design a pedal with their guts and tone and put it in a pedal design like that of the Morley.

Tried the Cantrell wah...it's almost the polar opposite of a good funk/blues wah...more on the dark side. Sounded cool for rock and high gain soloing but not at all what I'm looking for.

I bought the Budda specifically for funk, love it for that, but the CAE is more my all around go to these days and I think might work pretty nicely for what you are looking for.

How about the EVH?

It has a nice vocal quality to it, sweep is very wide and repsonsive.

Its bright too so is very clear and defined, works good form low to high gain.

Looks cool too.
