Just a quick opinion.
I know lot of guys say Lynch’s tone has gotten worse thru time.
While I love George his tone is all over the place. Guess I am still reliving Back for the Attack and Under lock and key. Or maybe it’s just that all the YouTube vids popping up etc.
Any other guys in your opinion who’s overall tone seems to slide?

Dammit man, I thought you were talking about your own tone and were frustrated. I was going to say maybe you shouldn't have gotten that Gorilla head and cabinet years ago. LOL!

Jake E. Lee's seems to have gotten worse but not horrible. Just doesn't seem as clean as he used to have.

I always thought Zakk Wylde's tone was bad now but maybe he has cleaned it up a bit. Years ago his chorusy, squealy tone was too much.

Yeah. Zak. Just sounds weird these days.
No more tears just kicked all kinds of ass.

Tooth and Nail was my favorite Lynch tone. His tone was VICIOUS on that album.

And that was a solid state Randall right?
Wonder why he isn’t playing his lime green Herbert these days?

Lynch for sure. Di Martini too. Not awful but not as good as the glory days.

Guilty as charged right here ;)

On the other end of the stick. Was listening to some of the Early Overkill.
So thin. There later stuff is just insane good tone wise.

Ya I was working out the other day and had Ride the Lightning just cranked and man...
Still as mean and heavy as I recall.

I was really into Paul Gilberts tone while he was using Laney,

I'd say his tone is still really good, but personally I loved it during his Laney era.

Yeah interesting talking about the other way around. Like Mick Mars. His tone on Shout at the Devil was piercing and trebly and by the time he did Dr. Feelgood, his tone was a thick wall of goodness.

I’ve always thought that EVH’s best Tone
was on his Early Albums.

I actually stopped listening to Van Halen after FUCK album. I liked his tone in the Hagar days.
And man do I LOVE his Amps tones these days s.
The EL34 Stealth is just bad ass.

All of our hero players tones were better with Marshall’s.

When the endorsements from other companies came in, the tones went out the window. :aww:

Loved Samboras tone on keep the faith, these days and stranger in the town but anything after that is a brittle, thrashy mess.

VH tone was great up till 5150-OU812. Didn't like either of those albums tone. But loved FUCK.
Wicked Sensation was a great tone, but the next LM tone was a dark mess. It seems the best tones came from simpler rigs, the 90s came and all those 80s players fucked up their great tones with rack stuff.

Still gotta try the 100w EL34 EVH.

Ya Keep the Faith was so crisp.
Might be my favorite Jovi album.
