I’m grateful that we aren’t near the fires, but my god the air is terrible today.

Today vs a semi clear day…

Just walked out of one building after the wife was texting me about walking the dog and how bad it actually is.
I admit I thought she was just complaining, lol, but it is pretty bad out there.

I noticed it ripping home on the moto yesterday.
Today it is quite a bit worse.

Seems like I am standing next to a smokey camp fire and its daytime.
Just not getting the heat.

It’s pretty eerie man. Everything has a yellowish light on it like we are under a sodium streetlight or something.

Sunset yesterday and sunrise this morning had a "diminished effect" <- get it? pretty good, right?

Sorry.
Couldn't resist.

Good luck guys. Northern indiana here and we’re not seeing any of it.
First time in my life going thru an "air quality" warning.
It really is pretty bad here in my neck of the woods.
Warnings about being outdoors, strenuous work.
Actually think they are cancelling my youngest' Little League practice this evening...

our local schools have canceled outdoor activities today as well. no recess and no afterschool. I'm not sure if it is related or not but we were expecting rain pretty much all week here and now there doesn't even seem to be a chance of it

I think we woke up on the west coast :dunno:

You'll know it's getting really real when the cops start patrolling with their speakers blaring
with warnings to be ready to leave at a moments notice.

Not only did we have the car packed but I'd done a full photo inventory of all of our stuff
we'd be leaving behind.

It got bad where I live about an hour ago. I still need to take the dogs out for their last piss.

Well, our little league practice was cancelled last night.

Worse out this morn, rode moto into work.
Today is supposed to be bad and its our last game of the season.
Probably end up cancelled.

We have not had anything serious since the mid eighties. But that fire was bad then. Everything was just had a pall over it and you were breathing smoke pretty much. Sucks.

It’s a little better here than yesterday but not a whole lot. The sun is a bit brighter but everything still had a funky yellow glow. School canceled outside recess today though.

This was the first morning I didn't use my inner shaded shield. Pretty dark this morn and really heavy, thick air.
Also noticing the temp change. Riding in around 60 degrees and then the last two morning upper 40 to 50 degrees.
Temp change coincidence with the arrival of the smoke?

Not to sound like a whiner, but with how many fires there are, I wonder if our entire summer is going to be like this?

I think it all depends on which way the wind blows. You being so far upstate probably makes you more vulnerable than me, but either my father in law in in Poughkeepsie is experiencing the same
