Yeah. As long as you're okay with the taper change, which will be different depending on the value of the resistor you use.
I had tried that when the 500k was in there and yes the taper was drastically changed and not for the better.........
The 300k with a treble bleed works best in this guitar.......BTW the Bourns pots have a great feel and taper to them......Much better than CTS or Gibson IME......
