I know Mark is trying to get things going again with EXPCUSTOM from the board here, but they haven't updated their FB page since the middle of June...is there ANYONE with the knowledge of Mark's original design that could build a good copy ??? Jerry Dyer perhaps ? I've heard clips of all kinds of Mark modded stuff (Sovtek MIGs, Marshalls, that Standell he did a few years ago) and they all are the best rock tones I've ever heard (to me). That being said, I love my Atomica and Brad era CCV, but I'd like to find a pre Brad CCV and get a mini CCV or rackmount CCV made at some point...I don't think Mark will ever be solvent long enough to do it. Thanks to those in the know.

I'd just hold out for a pre-Brad CCV for now. Because of what went down, this isn't the place to discuss any potential future Cameron stuff.

Here is my original Schmidt/Cameron era CCV. Truly incredible amp!

I know what went down, I'm aware of what happened and I feel for all of you that got screwed...I was almost one of you, but my gut told me not to send money so I feel really lucky for that, I didn't/don't mean any disrespect to you guys...it was/is my understanding that Mark and EXP were going to make you whole...is that no longer the plan ? Just want to know what is currently happening.

Does anyone know what the differences actually are between the pre and post Brad amps ? Besides the Metro loop, MIDI, and lack of Mercury Magnetic's transformers, what are the other less obvious differences ? That first clip kicks ass.

I thought all the ccv's had mercury magnetics?

Looks like Ceriatone now has a Cameron CCV clone....the King Kong.

this one sounds so good!!! anyone know where it is?

I got that from mark a few years back.

Ended up selling it to a guy in New York, who (as far as I know) kept it in his private collection.

Great amp, but it wasn't the best CCV I had.

wow, really?? you had one that sounded better???? a pre production, yes, no??

I had a couple that sounded better, and felt better....to me....all subjective :D

All built by Mark, at varying points through the years, so yeah, I suppose you'd say pre-pro...

No need to discuss it, I can hear the difference in players on a powerchord :)
I don't need to have everyone agree with me. Hell, I hear differences in an A5 between my buddy and myself on an unplugged electric.

Me too.

My attack tends to have a bit of my thumb on it, like a pseudo pinch harmonic. So chords tend to have an aggressive ring to them. The downside is that palm mutes are not as sharp. Just how I hold the pick.

I do the exact same thing^.....My chords tend to be a bit 'warmer' if that's the right term because of the role my thumb plays as well. Luckily I don't do a lot of palm mutes with the covers we play but definitely not as tight as other players. It's really the sum of so many moving parts when it comes to tone...think of the similarities between the picking style of George Lynch and Warren DeMartini...to me Warren copped so much of George's picking technique that it translated into similarities in tone to a degree...even though different guitars/amps/pups etc were used.

I also have to add that Mark C is VERY good and I've always enjoyed hearing him riff out on youtube or examples here. I even copped a riff from him a while back....I remember hearing a clip that he must have pulled off right from the late great Gary Moore...sounded eerily exactly like Gary...

I can prove that tone is not in the hands. Take any 2 guitar band (Ratt, Priest, Maiden, Night Ranger, whoever) and tell me who played what on the album from the tone only. Not what's being played, only by the tone. I can't tell the difference between Warren and Robin in Ratt for instance when judged on tone alone...I can hear the difference by what is being played though...They both used the same or similar amps and cabs, Floyd Roses, strings, pick ups, etc and were recorded in the same room with the same mics through the same console by the same producer to the same tape machine with the same outboard gear. Robin used neck through King V Jacksons and Warren bolt on strat Charvels, that's about the only gear difference.

I really cannot believe that after all this time and debauchery, you guys are still talking about CCVs.

Peters amps are where it's at. True story. Y'all ever wonder why the people who get one, wind up getting like 10 more? Because they are fucking legit.

Had no idea you'd flipped it, do you have a Friedman now?

The HBE would be where I'd be at if it wasn't for my MTS addiction....
