What are your thoughts/experience with the WCR American Steele(Crossroad/Godwood) or Combo Set (Darkburst / Godwood) :)

Seem pretty pricey at $315 a set but based on clips I've heard they sound amazing in LP style guitars

I've posted this before but I had the Godwood/Darkburst combo and by far the best pickups I've owned!! On the hot rodded PAF type tone.

The Godwood is a killer pickup and that is a must own.

As for the neck, I like both offerings. The Crossroad is very clear and chimey. The Darkburst has chime but is fatter sounding.

Both have their place, but I then to like the darkburst neck for creamier neck tones, and the crossroad for pristine cleans.

Jim's stuff is worth every penny.

Thanks for the insight, has anyone ever tried these in a non-LP style guitar? Like a superstrat or SG or something? It seems most people with these pickups I have seen end up in a LP.

I played them in a Baker B1 as well as various LP's. They are great pickups. Heck even the Herc's I have in my Jackson Star are great sounding (but, everybody on the net thinks they suck for some reason  ).

Got darkbursts in my custom Stinnett, killer pickups man... extremely clear and articulate.

Since you're in SoCal....you're welcome to come on down to the shop and try them out yourself. We have a tester guitar that's a super-strat that you can pop pickups in and out of without any soldering. For tester amps we have a Friedman modded Marshall, Scumback speakers, Bogner cabs, Fender amps....whatever you want. And we can crank 'em! Just give me a call if you want to come down.

I heard that guy smokes a lot of weed. How can he manage to get the same wind twice?

Automated winding machines are not affected by marijuana smoke... I'll stick to Duncans.. .LOL! :D

It is cool there are so many choices but after listening to the big pup shoot-out over and over just give me good ole duncans.

I do like my Walker though.

That's the ticket, Jerry has a great environment to listen to pickups. I have American Steele in my sunburst, just a great combo IMO. Sounds like a perfect Les Paul to me.

I'll have to check out his shop sometime later, where is he located in So Cal? Has anyone compared these to Duncan antiquities?

Jerry's near Pasadena.

Yeah, me and James had a good time trying out a bunch of pickups. That was for James' Goldtop LP, he decided to go with a set of BKP Cold Sweats for that one. Lots of fun that day!

We're in Arcadia, which is next door to Pasadena. Just give me a call if you want to check out any pickups. Everything you see listed on the luxxtone website is what's in stock at the shop. We're a full custom shop, that's really what we do. So we can do the installs too if you need.

The Antiquities are much lower output and have a lot of top end. Most either love 'em or hate 'em. We have those in stock too and you can compare them for yourself in person!
