I love when my guitar has fresh new Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's! I just don't like the process of changing them. I didn't used to mind, but now it seems kind of like a chore, especially if I am doing a few guitars at once. Then I check the action, fiddle around with that, and that eats more time up. But the worst is trying to adjust the pickup height!! Now when I get a guitar, I just leave it where it is and don't eve think about changing it, unless there is something wrong. Maybe I have severe OCD??

I have hated changing strings since my first band in high school back in 1986 and the tradition continues to this day. :) I actually like leaving my strings on for awhile because I don't like them to sound really bright. Back when I was gigging, I would change my strings about a week before the show so they could settle in, lost the bright sound, etc.

I read that Eddie Van Halen likes his strings to sound broken in as well. You are normal. :)

Given my strings only get change about once a year I don't mind doing it

I used to change strings often. Used to pull the floyd and clean it on the workbench. Would change strings with it out of the guitar. Pop it back in and then start on the other end.

Now I pretty much have to break a string and be forced to change a set. And even then I'll sometimes just grab another guitar instead.

I can't count the number of times this past year that I stopped at g.c and picked up a set with the intention of doing a string change, only to just keep playing the guitar with the same dead strings. I guess that's how you know you're loving the tone your amp is giving you at that moment.

Ever since I started using locking tuners with my Floyd equipped guitars, changing strings on those takes literally no time/effort at all...

On my other guitars, I hate it as well...

Steve

haven't changed strings on any of my guitars since recording my album..... so I don't mind it at all! ;)

Once a year!!!!!!????!!??!?!?!? Insanity!!!!

I love new strings after you have played them around an hour or two. The buoyancy is still good, they have that nice rebound to them still, and they are still snappy and punchy. Tuned down a half step.

I put a set of EB Titanium on one of my guitars...seems like they last forever.

How is adjusting the pickup height the worst part? That's the easiest of all the things you listed!

Try elixir Nanowebs and you won't have to change as often. They won't feel dead and crusty like EBs after a month.

I use Elixir's. Just changed two guitars last night and the previous strings had been on there for probably 4 months.

FWIW, my hands eat non coated strings in one rehearsal or show.

Hate changing strings. I have 19 guitars. I will use anywhere from 3-6 for a show. Hate changing them. I usually drop them off at a shop by the house and gladly pay to have them changed before a show.

I never used Elixirs until I bought my first Suhr Modern from a member here. I like the strings he had on there so much that I asked him what they were. I've strung all my guitars with Nanowebs ever since.

Don't blame you a bit.

Hmmm, sounds like I'm in the minority on this one. I don't mind changing them at all. In fact I tend to enjoy it.
