Hey guys, I've come across a JCM800 cab that supposedly is loaded with G12H100 speakers.

Since I already have a few of them and really like them I was wondering if anyone knows what type exactly is in that cab ( if they are, or have been once, stock speakers).

I know there are several renditions of that speaker that all go by the name of G12H100.

A bit of a long shot I know, but the seller doesn't respond to my emails and it's quite a long drive to go and check it out myself...

Thanks.

Giga.

I would bet that is not the stock speakers. They used a number of different speakers in the 800 cabs, not all of them are good for my taste.

do you now what year the cabinet is?

i owned a 1983-1986 JCM800 lead series cabinet with the original celestion 65's. sold it to overthemountain here on the forum.

I am pretty certain that Marshall never used 100 watt speakers in a 412 JCM cab. The originals would have been G12T75's or 65's and I think they made some with Marshall designed 80's. Any idea of the year?

The ad doesn't mention it's age. It has a photo however if that helps ?

They did use the 100's for a couple years in the 800's. Would have been very late 80's if I remember right....i don't remember the specific model # off hand though.

Here's one:

1984A JCM800, Bass 4x12" 400W cabinet angled front.

This special "heavy duty" cabinet was fitted with 4 100W 12" speakers.

ANd here is another one depending on the year......

1982A JCM800, Lead 4x12" 320W/400W 16? cabinet angled front.
1982B JCM800, Lead 4x12" 320W/400W 16? cabinet straight front.

These "high power" cabinets were in production from 1981 upto 1987. They were first fitted with 4 Celestion G12-80 T3103 15? speakers and from 1982 onwards they were fitted with 4 "specially produced Marshall-Celestion" 12" 16? speakers.

Maybe a bass cab? The must have offered them around the same time as the 80's.
Yeah they seemed to come after the 80 watt loaded cabs. I was teaching at a store in '87-88 that was a Marshall dealer and looked thru the catalog and saw those 400 watt cabs. Thought how cool it would be to have one...all I had was a Sound City 4-12 at the time.

I have never hear of the 100's in a 4x12...but you never know. It looks like the T nuts in the picture are changed. You can see 4 per speaker and Marshall usually paints them flat black.

Yeah, I noticed that too, seems odd.

Maybe I should invest a sunday's drive to have a look...

They must have put 100w speakers into them at some point since I have the JCM 800 bass cab (4x12) that's 18" deep. Got mine as a beater and recovered it, plus made some changes to it.

It sounded great before I ran out of room to play it anywhere. Keep in mind the original speakers were gone, but the metal tag on the back said it was a 400w cab, so I had to figure it had four 100w in it. But it's a bigger/deeper sound since it's so deep, regardless of the speakers used.

Right now it's been residing in my underground storage for...uh...cough...3 years. With my upcoming move it will be getting the light of day on it soon, probably this weekend if all goes well with my new demo room construction this week.

The H100's are cool. The K100's not so much.  I learned something from this thread today

+1 :)
