I want a Floyd equipped guitar with the following features:

single humbucker in bridge
volume knob only, no tone control
passive pickups
24 frets

Basically I want a Charvel with a 24 fret neck. I have this crooked, deformed pinky finger that makes it extremely difficult for me to reach the upper frets because of the neck heel but on a 24 fret guitar I can at least get to the 21st or 22 fret comfortably. ESP and a few others make this guitar but they all have EMG's so I would have to change out the pickup and volume pot if I want passives (correct me if I'm wrong). Am I going to have to get a custom build for something this simple?

Have you considered a Charvel with a neck replacement? That's probably stupid, but I thought I'd ask. Usually Charvel necks are pretty coveted. It could mean a sweet sale if you sold the Charvel neck though.

Maybe I'm confused though. Is this a picture what you wanted? Or did you want to get rid of the 24-fret neck because of the pinky thing?

if the only thing stopping you is the pickup swap i say do it. way easier than doing a warmoth build or a custom order.

went to the carvin website and darn if they don't have it. I always forget about carvin. Thanks

I use an Ibanez RG2610Z, the AANJ makes fret access easy and it has a Seymour Duncan Full Shred which is a pretty decent humbucker. it's unfortunately discontinued but it does sound great.

That's where I was going...pretty cool guitars. You shouldn't hae too much trouble finding a used one. I also know where a NOS one is still hanging...PM me if you're interested.

Considering that a standard model guitar with 2 humbuckers won't cost anything more than the single humbucker equivilent (well, it shouldn't be considerable amount.) you might as well broaden your search to guitars with 2 humbuckers, you don't have to use the other, you could even sell or deactivate it, same with a tone knob. Unless it's a cosmetic thing you're after as well?

It is a cosmetic thing to some extent but I also have been told that the tone knobs, switches, etc rob some tone. Mainly it is a fetish. No reason I couldn't use a 2 humbucker model other than I always have wanted one with the single HB.

I found that carvin linked above after craftm1 mentioned them. Killer looking axe. I don't know much about the carvin pickups but I like everything else about them.

I have an Ibanez and it's been my only floating trem guitar for years. I've not heard of the RG2610Z model so I'll have to check that one out. I mainly want to find out if anybody makes them like this stock so I'll know how much to save. Looks like the carvin may be the way to go. Thanks for suggesting it.
