It's kinda dark eh?

I like that it's dark, it hides nicely behind the tone and just provides some grease to get rid of the dries, I just leave it on subtly all the time, I prefer it to reverb. You may want a second delay that you like to kick on for solos.
Nothing wrong with having 2 delays....just like having 2 distortion pedals.

Actually it didn't hide at all in the tone LMAO. It was overpowering so much to the point that I almost had it off. Maybe I need to put it somewhere else in the chain. Im not giving up on it yet
You are using an amp set for clean and using pedals for gain right?
It should sound great at the end of the chain after the distortion pedals. I set the mix around 10 -11 O'clock. Keep the repeats low. Once you get the mix to 12:00 O'clock or higher it starts getting overpowering.

It's vintagey sounding...and maybe you're not a vintagey guy. :D

I have the amp set for clean and I get all the distortion from a single box or 2 :D

it could be that maybe I am so used to digital that the vintagey vibe is killing me LMAO. Not sure. Maybe I'll make a clip of both so people can hear what I'm talking about although currently I don't have a way to make clips
Here I made a quick clip of my pedal setup with the Carbon Copy last in the chain for the heck of it...sorry mid it's gain and subtle. :D

If you are getting that then there is definitely something in my signal chain that Aint jiving with the pedal. I could live with that sound with just a hint more delay. Back to the drawing board!
With that said, My first pick was the Malekko Ekko 16 and Im starting to think that was more my speed
I should have turned the mix up more. :D
It definitely rolls off some of the highs. I like it on all the time instead of reverb. I'm thinking for soloing I may add a digital delay after it.

Two things.

First - I think you are spoiled by the AxeFx and not going to find what you are after with pedals, unless you go novasystem or similar in the loop.

Second - fucking quit with the pedal searching bullshit already as you are going to create a wave of Delay Pedal GAS on this board that will be unprecedented and cause the DOW to fluctuate with your findings.

Yes i'm just fine with my DD3 in the loop of the DSL. Good Day Sir!!!

Yeah, Im not using verb at all in the pedal rig. I figured that the delay is enough!! Im going to screw aound with the rig tonight to see what I can come up with .

Well that's just the thing...If this freaking rehearsal studio had amps with a fucking loop in them then Id be using the Axe-fx and call it a day :hys:

With that said, And I have to be honest.. The tone I got last night through a stock JCM800 was incredible (of course I used the Letekro Trick!!)
I kicked it in and out depending on the songs!
I played ac/dc last night to and using one pedal with nothing else was killer and a shitload of fun to play :D

Agreed!

If you like your tone a delay should be all you need 95% of the time. Unless you are in a cover band trying to mimic 30 different guitar players....then it depends how anal are you going to be.

The guitarist that played in my cover band before me used Line 6 stuff and had several patches programmed for each song. Must have had 80 presets through the night.

80 Presets is Nuts!! I admire his enthusiasm though!! The only different patches I had in my 70's project was for the Boston stuff for the humped up midrange. All the other tunes were played with the same sound :D

80 presets?!

I've played in cover bands and used my volume knob on my guitar. Delay, maybe a touch of chorus for things and a wah.

What else do you need?

For me it's just a volume knob and a Stratocaster. For me, guitar tones on songs are just varying degrees of gain (some songs have a specific effect, but........).

I did a big outdoor show a few summer's ago with my cover band. It had some great experienced techs and at the end of the show FOH guy was telling me I nailed all the tones of the songs we were playing perfectly, all your patches and settings sound great.....ya all 2 of them, clean/dirty.

I absolutely agree...he was using modeling...for U2 songs he would use a Vox wiih Blues...for Rush he'd switch to a Hiwatt....AC DC JTM...Eagles Fenders...just a constant barrage of different sounding tones that he meticulously tweaked at home to the albums.

He had a very different tone out front for every song. It did not fit in the mix well with the band...thin...fat...bright...dark...it's a soundman's nightmare really.

My signal chain starts right to left, my CC works well, i keep the regen off or close to it, the mix at 9 o'clock & the delay at 2 to 3 o'clock, prolly in the 400ms range.

I had the DD6 but it had a terrible static sound after the repeats.

I had one, took it back - couldn't get it to do what it wanted in front of the amp or in the loop. My Ibanez DL-5 soundtank sounded better to my ears. Never admitted it before because everyone loves the carbon copy and I didn't want to sound like an idiot - I guess I'm out of the closet now   !

Really depends on what kind of music you play as well.

For metal Digital Delay is the way to go. IMO. Cleaner.
