lol yes. I lived in Italy (Rome) specifically as a young teen and me and my Finnish buddy used to watch his show. (in fact I passed him on the street one day as well.. looked normal "out of costume". )At the time he had 1 or 2 hours a week at a desk where he would play all the guitar virtuoso clips from the Varney guys etc... We called in once too for a joke and pissed ourselves laughing. He would have a still picture/frame in the background which was probably an early blue screen, something like a dragon or an album cover. He actually used to be quite knowledgeable on what was going on with various players in the industry. He always was a bit of a joke though.. the way he spoke italian in describing stuff and the way he dressed. I guess over the years he just morphed further into an even bigger joke. His guitar instructional videos are hilarious and he gets up and plays in front of crowds that curse at him and throw beer all over him. He either takes himself too seriously or is milking the joke... nobody really knows.

Italian here, sadly I am not from Rome so I wasn't able to "enjoy" his stuff in the late '80 early '90 in the local TV stations there. Somehow he started to have a say in magazines doing album reviews about all the Shrapnel records but as soon you heard him playing well, you can guess what happened right?
Lately he came to national popularity through some national late night TV where he was just there just as another crazy funny guy.
So to recap, he took himself pretty seriously in the '80 but people from Rome obviously did not and he's now banking on being a caricature of himself. The cringe is real.
Everybody has to eat right?
EDIT: BTW, "I Nani" means "the dwarfs".

It is actually pretty sad because I was watching more recent interviews with the guy and he barely has any teeth and looks like a raging dying alcoholic. He appears to be broke....yet he still sounds as ridiculous as ever when he gets going.
Fun fact, I always thought his name was B.S but he must of had an english parent because his english is pretty solid. Never knew he spoke any english at all. As Kunos said, he used to get by on the "image" until all of a sudden people heard him play...and saw what was probably a wig.
