Is there a way to distinguish the original Hell Razors from the updated "V2" versions?

I'm just discovering Wizard amps. What were the changes made between the V1 and V2 Hell Razors? Do people massively prefer one over the other? I know sometimes amp revisions aren't well received by the players. Thanks!

I think everyone prefers the newer version without excessive noise. Mine sounds great. From 2026

Rick always tweaking . Hell razor new now probably is a v3 .

On the V2 version, the Rhythm knob does not impact the Lead channel. It does impact it on the V1 version.

Not sure how to tell just by looking though. Maybe email Rick and ask him what the earliest V2 serial number is?

Do we know what year V2 got introduced?

Mine was made in late 2024 and it was the V2 version.

I’ve had both at the same time. V1 60watt and a V2 100watt. The V1 SMOKES the v2 imo. It’s more extreme as far as frequency response goes. Bigger lows and higher highs. To the point it can become too much and needs to be dialled back. But I always like having the option of going too far with it and backing the settings back to “tame” it more. Also the V1 is tighter and just way more aggressive sounding to my ear. It’s a big difference between the 2 versions. But I definitely prefer V1. Happy to own one!

The V2 is wildly aggressive still to the point of way way too much if you want it. You can get the excessive noise on the v2 with all the pull boosts and pushing gain 1 knob up.

I know. I’ve had the v2 and v1 side by side going into an ampete switcher to hear the differences. Trust me. V1 is twice as aggressive and tighter

…and my v0 eL34 50w was (is because I still have it) a lot more aggressive than my v1 KT120 KT66 (which I sold). . Either way, both still killer amps!
