I am really checking into the series one 1046L6 version... like the tones ive been hearing from the 6L6....wonder how it compares to the EVH III 100 watt head?

I'm not cujo, but I saw every time I die play last week, and the big guy andy was playing one. His tone was crushing, and the other dude Jordan had an old jcm800, which I love. So I thought it was pretty sick...

I had the EL34 version and it was great. I'm really surprised these amps don't get talked about more. :dunno:

I had the 200 and really liked it . Ch2 super crunch was exellent !
I sold it because it was 80lbs and the price of KT88s is something I did'nt like..lol

Hey LP Freak, what prompted you to sell it?

This is from a guy on sevenstring.org:

Pros:
Its loud, but very controled-not noisey.
It has a great rounded mid section that doesnt get lost.
The lows are full and rounded.
It does have great stick gain, not saturated though.
I havnt tried the channels while playing, because i didnt get the pedal cable yet.

Cons:
It weighs almost 70lbs...ON ONE FREAKIN SIDE!

All in all, is really has great tonal clarity at low volumes, and at the volume i ran it at practice. It doesnt distort, hiss or get noisey. I would have the say this amp has massive tameable power.
And with an OD, botique distortion pedal, or high gain preamp tubes, It would be a wicked metal amp!

And of course, why not rely on good 'ol Ola to provide a nice demo of the Blackstar Series One 104 6L6.

I got to try out a series one 200, could certainly live in the first two channels with some pedals, fantastic clean and a good crunch/breakup tone, however the higher gain channels just didn't seem to do it for me , maybe something to do with the kt88s and the v30 cab, it just sounded a bit harsh and nasal to me i maybe should have cranked it some more as it can get stupid loud and it did weigh a ton, all the weight was on one side which made carrying a bitch

the series one el34 and 6l6 seem like quality amps, although i've read people prefer the cheaper ht-100 for certain tones (more brutal metal tones in particular), it depends what you're after i guess and there's not much forum talk about those amps even on other boards , between those amps and the EVH 5150 iii 100watter, tough call, the evh i had i found wayyy too bright for my liking, could somewhat dial it out, but didn't seem to mesh well with my setup and i've found i'm much more at home with single channel amps, pedals+ volume to go from clean to flat out gain
