The rack and mixer units are going pretty cheap on ebay. I know the 003 is the current unit, but are the 002's still good? How many simultaneous tracks can they record into PT? Enough for a full drum kit? Thanks!
Well that sounds good to me. It's going like crazy cheap. There's a mixer/recorder unit with PT and a bunch of waves plug-ins for $550.crwnedblasphemy":14m7w42r said:About a year ago, I read a lot of reviews where people prefered the 002 over the 003, cuz there weren't sufficient upgrades to anything really...
That is just what I was reading, and have no input of my own cuz I don't use protools.![]()

You can record 8 tracks at the same time - you can get an 8 channel preamp with a lightpipe and be able to record 16 tracks. Make sure the computer you get is compatible. I had a buddy help me put mine together and we went over the specs very carefully and made sure each component was what was needed - I've had sessions with 32 tracks and plenty of plugins and it was working good even with that load. I will say the preamps on the 002 are crap. I use the pre's from a little Mackie board and even those sound way better than the Digi preamps.
