Hi everyone! JR here from Positive Grid to discuss all things JamUp and JamUp PRO mobile guitar app.

So who’s using it already? Have you replaced your physical amp and/or pedals for practicing, recording or live gigs with JamUp?

JR.

I am and absolutely love it. It is so bad ass to go on a bussiness trip or vacation and take a Ipad or your Iphone and a guitar plug in and have a pretty much recordable guitar tone any time anywhere. I use mine all the time for practicing as it just works. I also find using the 19.99 adapter you all sell works better than the $100 dollar HD I rig or Peavey amp kit HD. Props to you guys and your team for making a fantastic product.

I got into a cash crunch last month and had to sell my rig; couple guys I know recommended it. I was pretty skeptical just based on low end modeling I've tried in the last but it really surprised me...most low end stuff is pretty good on cleans and low gain stuff, but I'm a metal head and that's where this app shines. Like Dave said above, props to you and your crew for making something usable everywhere. I can't believe this is an app on my PHONE. I'm going to buy more amps in the future, but this will stay for quiet at home practice.

I actuly seen a guy live using this set up that absolutely destroyed all the other bands and they were using some very high dollar amps. The sound guy was also saying it was one of the best live tones he ever heard and I would have to agree.

He is a very well known and respected soubd engineer from Dallas that been in the area for at least 30 years and has done sound from some of the biggest acts to come through...

So I would possibly one day give it a wirl using it live.

Does it come with an extended battery pack?

I cant even get through the work day without my phone needing a charge.

One of the guys from the GA group on FB is using it live, Dave.....dude is a talented engineer and has modded his own JVM to suit him, but this is working out better for him....he made some really good patches too. I got all of his and they're pretty representative of what they are.....Marshall JVM, Plexi, etc...

I really love the modded Recto patches, and the Pantera stuff....until I can snag a Kemper, this is as close as I'm gonna get.

@mad: dude you can put it in airplane mode so no extra juice is getting used and play for hours at a time....I've gone 4 hours with this thing before needing to charge.

Ok, maybe im just negative and skeptical but how could a modeler sound better than the real thing live? In reference to the other post.

Just doesnt make sense to me. Im not trying to shit on this, it is pretty amazing. I have heard the tones and they do sound good, especially the merrow/loomis/ola but to replace an amp?? Or to say it destroys the real amp live that it is based off of?

I guess I need to just try the thing?

Im going to pm you Steiny

I started using it last week. Sold my whole rig (not because of acquiring the app), and this is doing wonderful on my ipod. Only wish the amps were more sensitive to the volume knob on my guitar. They're kinda hard to clean up. I got all the packs and stuff, sounds very very good. So far the responsiveness/sensitivity is my only complain.

Its hard to say why on that given night that thing sounded incredible. Maybe the guy spent a shit load of time developing his sound and going direct to the board and the settings on the board where just in the sweet spot... :dunno:

But it definetly sounded amazing and the the other dudes were like what the hell my rig is sitting at 6 grand and that thing sounds like that. I would have not belived it if i hadnt have heard it myself... Trust me I wouldnt have...

I have an old iPhone3G sitting around somewhere. Will this app work with this model or does it have to be more current model phone?

Looks cool. Thanks

It would need to be at least the 3GS to run the app.

Really cool comments guys, please share your recordings live or in the studio... and count with me for any JamUp subjects or questions ;)

So what do you need, what does it cost for an Ipad 3? Looks like it would be great for learning tunes and practicing.

I use Jamup and absolutely love the app, I use it for jam sessions out and about along with late night practise in conjunction with my bose soundlink and it sounds brilliant. I would love to get my hands on the jamup plug as irig is noisy and prone to feedback but I cant find anywhere to buy it in the UK. Any delers with uk stock as I cant abide importing unless i absolutely have to.

OK so after consulting Dr. Stein I am eager to try. Hopefully I will come back and put my foot in mouth.

I still can't see this replacing my tube amp but at the very least it should replace my amp sims.
