Why I Dislike Gibson (WARNING OPINION!)

Seems like you've wasted a lot time & energy on this. Maybe just Move on & play whatever you like. I Don't like Most Ibanez guitars but i'm not wasting my Energy on talking about them all the time.
I just wanted to lay it out in a constructive way. It's a forum to discuss this exact thing. The real time/energy is invested by those blindly shilling a corporation or telling people how to feel.

Good Luck man.

I am sure Fender, PRS etc.. do douchbag things too.
To me, it always appeared to me as the SE line is REALLY forced, considering Paul is super picky. SE's cut every corner that can be cut (according to PRS's ethos) to get them at a price point, IMO.

Once I had a bone nut cut for my 96 Classic, it became as stable as any other non locking guitar I have.
I've only encountered a couple that needed a new nut, but it does happen - and if I'm being honest, I've cut 20 times more nuts for strats and teles

Most of the time you can get away with some light filing and shaping of the slot, and some lubrication - Nut sauce, Graphite, 3 in 1, etc

Once you get the nut situated, an LP (or any other TOM bridge guitar) is rock solid

I just think it's fucking hilarious when Glenn Fricker and other YouTubers have a heavy flow day about something that's "standard maintenance" for literally every guitar that's ever been made in human history

All that stuff is true but most of my favorite guitars are Gibsons. And I think of them as innocent, they didn’t decide to get built by Gibson. Hate the company, love the guitars. :loco:

Les Pauls just have a certain sound and feel you are not going to get anywhere else.

And it doesn't have to be the most expensive one. Of all my Pauls, I have bonded most with an 03 Classic.

Ibanez (and Jackson, Fender, Rickenbacker, D'Angelico, Harmony, BC Rich and Gittler) work great for me.

I owned Gibsons in the past, found other guitars I prefer.

That said it's fun to troll about their QC once in awhile. Like this one, with a human (beard, pubic?) hair in the finish:

That dude can barely play. :ROFLMAO:

I have a love/hate relationship with Gibson. I love everything about them but hate the price. And I have probably spent at least 30k on Gibby's through the years. My Greco Sykes fills my les paul itch.....for now.

How could I resist these...Love me some Gibson Custom Shop. Overpriced or not.

They mass produce ALOT of guitars. Like any massed produced guitar, (import or not), simply put, higher numbers equate to more turds.

That said, a good one, with the all important correctly cut nut, good fretwork, etc., is hard to beat..

Have you priced a Core PRS? $4-5k? And their APPALLING prices on PARTS. PRS stuff is batshit crazy expensive. And everyone selling one used seem to be exceptionally proud of them. Nuts. $1949 for a hybrid Korea/USA S2 594 with G&B made shitty pickups? No thanks.

Speaking of pickups, I've seen used Core pickups for $5-$600 used. WTF? Most of their USA pickups suck too, except the 57/08's.

I have talked a ton of shit on Gibson and played some absolute turd examples, but when you find that special one...especially a truly badass LP...I forget about all the bad things.

Japetus… “It’s on your guitar”.

FUCKING ENDGAME MAN.

I've been playing my SG Raven a bit lately but i've all but totally switched to Reverends recently. I'm kinda dying to get a Roundhouse model.

It is crazy because when I saw Jeff Watson from Night Ranger with a Les Paul, I thought I'd never want one ant then I saw Slash and instantly wanted one. Then I was hooked.

Nothing to me sounds like a Les Paul. That mahogany with the maple top just creates a tight sound with a lot of low end. Just awesome!
