Great story Curt! My all time favorite guitarist and the inspiration for my love/hate relationship with the guitar.
How can anyone make it look that easy using only three fingers?! Seeing him reminds me of what a hack I am

Of course your story also reminded me of why I didn't start playing guitar until I could grow facial hair and buy a Camaro too

Great story! As everyone has said, I think that we all have been there at some point. I think for a lot of us here, it was an inspiration moment. At least it is for me, while I don't like to have my doors blown off, when I do, I always go back to the wood shed and make the best of it.

i will never get my life back that i wasted reading your story.

Bah. I'll take the 22:1 ratio I have going right now. Your life must be substantially more valuable than everyone else in this thread. :D

Great story...thanks for sharing!!! I had a similar humbling story that I'll save for another day.

So what ever happened to Mike Kowczykczykczyk?

I don't know. I will have to look his real name up in my high school yearbook for freshman year. Dude was actually a bully if you think about it, kicking the crap out of a freshman when he was a senior.

Awesome read!
I'll drive from Berlin to Poland this evening. Any message you wish me to deliver? :gethim: :gethim:

This comment really cracked me up! Thanks for that. And thanks everyone else for the nice comments. This was supposed to be for fun.

David T. Chastain (Shrapenal recording artist in the 80"s, Firewind co-writer, and current Leviathon records owner) You can thank David for Joe Stump and Gus G

I loved David when I was in high school. The 7th of Never was in constant rotation on my tape deck. He had such a unique way of phrasing; like Holdsworth. Plus his riffs were so creative. I assume that you're near Cincinnati, you should check out Scotty Anderson. Extremely under rated country player, that is like Chet Atkins on crack. Seriously, look him up on Youtube. Tragically, he plays at VFW halls, but great for you!

Rupe,
:hys: :hys: :hys:

That might have been him if it was 1983-1985. This was 1981. I don't think anyone had invented the mullet yet. Just long, one length hair. That denim jacket with like the cotton warming liner deal. Reeked of cigarettes. Other than that, the face and the mustache were the same.
