guthrie is so good at all styles, but his aristocrat stuff is not my cup of tea, and the direction he seems to be taking is "headache jazz" musician instead of becoming more soulful and expressive and fun, to me. erotic cakes was a teaser for things to come but so far no bueno.

Same for me but I wouldn't have called it headache jazz.

I want Erotic Cakes II.

I don't know man... I LOVE the guy's playing.. saw a clinic a few years ago and I was blown away, played perfectly in every possible musical genre for more than an hour... but I can't get into his songs...

He is definitely the perfect player. It's amazing to watch him go. I just realized I need to buy Erotic Cakes.

I'd rather have Michael Schenker, George Lynch, Neil Schlong.

Rig-talk G3 : EVH, GEORGES LYNCH, RANDY RHOADS (must go back 25 years from now to make that happen!)

Has Timmons done it yet? GG would be nice, but I'd take AT over him any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

i would a liked to see Macalpine as well playing some older tunes instead of seeing him just play backing keys and guitar for Vai =0 ,

Timmons would be a great fit imo

Eric Gales
Michael Landau

to name some others, Landau would be huge

i just can't help but think they have to be better known or maybe there's a minimum amount reuired of cover features on guitar world / guitarist / techniques (insert mag here) before you can be taken onboard /sarc

It's all about selling tickets and as others have stated, not enough people know who he is.

If you go back to the start, Joe, Steve and Eric all had commercial RADIO success in the US. Then they added JP, again Dream Theater sells tickets. Then Yngwie. In Europe, Japan, and in South America, Joe adds guys that are known in those markets (Michael Schenker, Uli Roth, Paul Gilbert, etc...). Guthrie may one day end up on the tour, but my guess is that he will probably be on a foreign leg and not in the US.

I'd like to see three totally different styles on a G3 show

Gales
Holdsworth
Di Meola

Same here. Not a fan of the aristocrat thing... Erotic Cakes is my favorite guitar instrumental album of all time by far though...

Mick Mars
CC Deville
Phil Collen

That would be AWESOME man! :D

Though I'd like to see Collen replaced with Hammett. Kirk could headline! Collen has played some pretty sloppy crap, but he's done some pretty good stuff in the studio.

Landau, Gales, Govan Let Vai and Satch have a front row seat

Funny thing but the only way G3 would really get any attention would be to have a lineup like Slash, Kirk Hammet, and Zak. Hate them or not, they're 50 times more known than others mentioned in this thread. Except for Nail Schlong, all the ladies would cum see him. Nail Schlong is his porn name if you didn't know by now.

probably because Guthrie will shut out most other guitarists. I'd love to see Guthrie, Michael Romeo, and John Petrucci together. If Jason Becker had his abilities, he'd be a pleasure to watch
