Pretty cool video by PT. Best is subjective to be sure but it is what I like...most of the time.
Agreed. I think old school gain cuts through the mix and sounds better in the mix. I think it just sounds better, too.More 'teeth' in old school amp tones...and usually, the best clarity or not much out there with MORE clarity than a good vintage NMV design.
More 'pure' tone. IMO
Don't get me wrong; I love more modern high gain too i.e. Mesa (Triple F, C+, SLO) but honestly if I had to choose only one amp it would be my 72 SuperTremolo. With a boost or two it'll do anything.Agreed. I think old school gain cuts through the mix and sounds better in the mix. I think it just sounds better, too.
Yeah, well...that’s just, like, your opinion, man.No it isn't.
...And when you mix a great power section with a great preamp section you have the best of both worlds, like a Wizard or SLO. To name a few.Power stage distortion is definitely cool, it's just not tight enough for my playing style. All pre-amp gain for me. The palm mutes gotta sound right, no giving out, mushing up or flubbing out.
