For a photo shoot?

Pointless rant but man it's almost a pet peeve. It's not technically cuz it's not my guitar and I wouldn't buy one if it was sitting in a bed of rocks but why?

I see it all the time, people putting guitars in the grass, in mulch, other random places and a bed of freaking rocks.

Why guys? Why?

Nothing cooler than taking pics of your guitar in the snow dude! [/sarcasm]

Cooler lol literally.

Hopefully it's below 32. Guitars don't like water.

But that's a great example. Obviously people can do as they please but if I was in the market and that was a FS picture I'd laugh and keep browsing.

The worst I've seen was the bed of rocks though lol.

Keep posting. This can be fun. Post your worst places you your guitars pics.

I bought one off Reverb about a month ago that was pictured sitting on a ratty wood deck and the Kahler bar removed and just laying on the top of the body. It was getting custom paint anyway so not a big deal in this case but I wasn't impressed with the way it was treated.

To capture the natural light...I hate photos of nice guitars in dark, artificial & drab bedroom/basements.

It's all about how they're placed on the surface - you can put a guitar on barbed wire and it'll be fine, throw it on a couch and you can have problems. I suspect a decent number of these outside shots are actually positioned fairly carefully so nothing is being damaged. I've taken multiple 'pile' pics such as this, and there's not been a scrape added to any of them, because they're not actually thrown into a pile..

As for epiphones on snow - sorry, but who cares? LOL

Don't know how those did not get damaged, but given I own 2 of them now - I have proof they were not. But, the ones I own were on top :)

some really awesome guitars in that pile!!!!!

It might just look like a pile, but it was very carefully laid out - if you look, guitars with no headstock angle are on the bottom, and then the others were placed very carefully on the top, with rags inbetween in some cases. There was an element of 'balancing' of course, but nothing major!

Lol

Ya good point. Carefully place but man some of them still kill me.

Pile O' axes. That is quite the collection. I'd be afraid to do that though.

Yeah It kills me to see someone place their "Mint" multi thousand dollar guitar for sale directly on the concrete when taking front and back pics.

Some Killer stuff there - I see 2-3 GMW's that have me drooling/curious, and none of the other guitars are lacking at all!
\Nice pic of what looks to be an awesome collection.

That pic looks like Guitar Jenga Fail...and is awesome.

I hate with a passion when people put their guitars on grass to take pictures. You want to take a pic outside? Fine. Use a guitar stand. No matter what you say, that guitar will have dirt or grass on it somewhere and thats unacceptable.
