Why put your guitars in dumb places.....

I see a subtle version of this all the time...where a nice guitar is propped up on some sort of kitchen chair looking like it'll fall if someone walks across the floor. I actually get nervous looking at them, thinking "Don't put it there, it'll fall!"...meanwhile some dude somewhere is just stepping back out of arm's reach from it trying to take pictures of his (endangered) guitar.

It's all about how they're placed on the surface - you can put a guitar on barbed wire and it'll be fine, throw it on a couch and you can have problems. I suspect a decent number of these outside shots are actually positioned fairly carefully so nothing is being damaged. I've taken multiple 'pile' pics such as this, and there's not been a scrape added to any of them, because they're not actually thrown into a pile..

As for epiphones on snow - sorry, but who cares? LOL

I want to be your friend.

I hate with a passion when people put their guitars on grass to take pictures. You want to take a pic outside? Fine. Use a guitar stand. No matter what you say, that guitar will have dirt or grass on it somewhere and thats unacceptable.
What a coincidence! I find assumptious OCD freakshows just as deplorable!

For the same reason I don't buy extremely expensive guitars, mine get a lot of use and abuse because they are guitars.

My guitars get beer, sweat, dead skin at rehearsal and gigs. I also move around alot on stage so they get bumped. I'd rather put on a show than stand like a statue cradling a guitar because of its monetary value. Like a nice sports car, shut up and go drive it. Who cares if it gets muddy and the mileage goes up.

When you are 80 years old will you really look back on life and say "oh I'm sure glad I didn't mark that guitar"

But I agree if you're selling a guitar online... don't have a picture of it sitting on rocks

Yeah... I completely agree. I see guys with their $7000 LP R9 all day laying it flat or sometimes even face down on a gravel road for pics... describing how mint and flawless the guitar is... well not after laying it down on your gravel driveway.

WTF? :scared:

Or you can be clever and place something between the guitar and whatever surface and have it not seen in the photograph so you appear to have the cool shot without damaging your guitar.

Can we show some examples of guitars worth thousands of dollars laying face down on rocks? Cause I've never personally seen it....

I have definitely seen it. That was the premise of this thread honestly.

I have seen it a few times over the years honestly. I don't have picture proof. If I dig maybe I can find but I guess you don't have to believe me.

I mean ok, I am anal so be it. On wood furniture sure, in the snow, I guess. In the grass? Maybe you like mud but IN THE DAMN ROCKS???!!!

What is wrong with you?

There's audio arts and there's visual arts...both valid.

You must be real fun at parties.
When you work up the courage to leave your house that is. (Cause there's lots of dirt, grass and homos out there)
