Why the F do these pedals cost so much....

Same reason that a head that isn't even really a 2ch head, no midi, crappy loop, can go for $4500.

With so many other options out there, I wouldn't even waste my time anymore

But those "so many other options available" units don't have the Soldano gain and tone design .
Sure there is alot of great amps and pedals out there these days but Soldano has a unique tone imo .

I've owned an SLO and Soldano preamps. My experiance is that they will not sound like and SLO. IMHO SLO gain going through something other thand Deyoung trannys is meh..

If you set a high price, there will be built in perceived magic for many initial buyers........

Sounds like you made up your mind on the type of sound you want, and think it's time to save $4500 and get an SLO. Pedals are pedals, things that live on the floor, get stepped on, and are always in the way.

I have an SLO and a 1959SLP. Two different beasts and neither will ever sound like the other. Get both and then buy a head switcher if you need both sounds for the same gig. More money, of course. Maybe try the new EVH 5150 pedal, but the Marshall needs nothing. I was just playing mine tonight side/side with my EVH 100s, using a Metropoulos Head Master to switch between them. The EVH can be made to sound closer to an SLO than the Marshall can.
