he was actually having a new nut installed when I snapped those photos. He plays the shit out of it too. My good ol' plain jane GMW hardtail is as close to a Charvel as I can get right now...

It's tough to play "Turn Me Loose" on a Charvel.

This weekend I am taking photos of some guitars to fund that Snakeskin, I have to get that guitar.
It's a Japanese made Charvel. You can't find much about the history about it, because collectors aren't into the Japanese Charvels. That plate says "USA" on it, not "Made in USA", right? As far as I know all Fort Worth Charvels are made in Japan. Oh yeah, and it is not from "EARLYYYYYY 80's" either. The Model 4 was first released in 1986 with the Kahler 2300 trem. Given yours has the Kahler 2300, I'd say it is an '86... they put Floyds on them after '86... Nice guitars - a lot of people like 'em, but little collectible value and not American made.jlbaxe":9nyvkpce said:I have a Charvel/Jackson Model 4 from the EARLYYYYYY 80's. Has Active EMG pickups and I just put a new Kahler locking trem on her, the original was falling apart. The neck plate has" Charvel by Jackson/Charvel P.O. box 2344 Fort Worth Texas 76113. Made in USA." on it. serial number 2225XX and I cant find a thing on the net about the history of it.![]()

Wow Made in Japan. U.S.A. on the plate is misleading.sah5150":3ki7w3ce said:It's a Japanese made Charvel. I owned the Camo Charvel that Marc Ferarri from Keel is holding. He had it re-sprayed white with black "Ferrari" stripes on it and had a PERFORMANCE neck put on it and a Floyd. The paint was starting to chip and you could see the CAMO paint under it. Like a idiot I sold it a few years back.Chubtone":199vvl4j said:* velcro-fly *":199vvl4j said:
I bought my first Charvel from the guy in the back row in the center, Dave Anderson from Eric Steel Band. He worked at GC and totally took me under his wing on going through the Charvels and helping me to pick out a good one. He was so into them and they were extremely rare in Chicago at that time. He knew I was saving for my first one with my pizza delivery money and every time they got in a new shipment he would call me and tell me what they had. When I was getting close, one day he called me and said they had just gotten in 8 new Charvels and he had two that were his favorites. I was talking about it all day at work and my boss overheard me and asked how close I was. When I told him $200 he said that he would loan the money to me. I called Dave and told him I would be coming in the next day and it was between a black single hum with rosewood neck and my candy purple single hum with rosewood neck. Still have that thing!![]()
