Long story short, this guy lied and told me he didn't have the COA or the booklet but here he is selling a copy of both on Reverb.com and the last digit is altered.

Here it is:
https://reverb.com/item/1225627-marshal ... fd100-2011

Anyway, I already had it out with the guy months ago and he never sent it to me.

He's a POS!
I don't want that one anyway since he altered it!

I want to buy another one from Marshall in case I ever decide to sell the amp.

Did you buy the amp through Reverb? Their staff may be able to help in some way. They can't make the guy give you the COA but they maybe be able to give you some other leverage if he made misrepresentations when you were buying the amp if you bought the amp through Reverb.

I would pursue it through Reverb as he states in his ad "without it, brings down the value of your AFD 100 Head significantly". So he purposefully withheld it to try and sell at an additional profit. Now if you got the amp at a fair bit below what ones go for with a COA you might not have a case. Hopefully you have emails where he states that he does not have it.

FWIW I'm not sure a COA would honestly affect the value all that much. It's not like you can't tell what it is by looking at it. Now if they suddenly decide to make them readily available and don't change anything cosmetically, you would want the COA. But if they produced it to be identical would it make a difference? Which was first run and what was later.

Email Marshall and see what they say.

not trying to be a dick but I didn't know you had to give a guy an owners manual and coa when you sell and amp , you bought it with out, this is one of the stupidest threads I have seen but what ever.

I didn't know about the coa when I made the purchase, that one is on me.
Once I found out they came with COA's I asked him and he said sorry I don't have it.

But found an old post of his on reverb that had the coa in one of the pictures so I knew he was full of shit.

He then said I don't have it again after I showed him pictures of the coa, still...he said I don't have it!
I got over it, then I noticed the coa for sale on reverb and was like WTF!

I bought the amp in person (Local sale)

Yes you were, you clearly posted to he a dick...I mean if an amp is sold from the factory with a COA it should go with it when sold. If you don't have the COA make sure to post that you don't have it or that it's not included.

He never even said anything about a COA to me during our deal.
He took a custom shop R7 from me in trade and was wanting clear pictures of the COA or he wasn't going to do the trade.

If that doesn't make sense to you then you are the stupid one.

1.) How do you know the seller altered the COA in his Reverb ad? It does look altered, but it doesn't mean he did it.

2.) Print his Reverb ads and photos to PDF or JPEG immediately, before they (i.e., some of your evidence) "disappear".

3.) Does the COA he is currently selling on Reverb have your AFD100's serial number on it? If so, why not simply reach out to him with your old correspondence with him included, and ask if you can have your COA now, since he has clearly found it since your earlier transaction?

4.) If (3.) doesn't work, and you want his COA or some kind of restitution from him, you HAVE to go through Reverb with evidence (i.e., emails from him stating he doesn't have the COA and visible proof that the COA he is currently selling has your AFD100's serial number on it). It's the only true leverage you have.

5.) If you don't want his COA, email Marshall and move on with your life. They likely won't give you one without you sending them your AFD100 or taking it to some State-side location so they can verify it's legit.

Wow, after looking at his ad this really is a dick move. I would get with Reverb and basically tell them he is selling YOUR cert. Its his wording in his ad that would have pissed me off too.

What a asshole he also sold the head cover that came with it too. You got the foot
switch I hope. I think I would go over there in person, and try to get him to do the right thing. If he doesn't hand it over, offer him $100. I would want the COA and manual though, and would reluctantly buy it for $200.Then contact Marshall about the COA, maybe they'd have a head cover too.

I can see keeping the T-shirt, but everything else should go with the amp

all of this....

I don't see why any one would buy a COA? If the serial # doesn't match the amp you have then it would add zero value to your amp (not meaning OP but anyone who would actually buy this). In fact I would think having a COA that has a different serial # to your amp would set off alarm bells for most buyers (fake/stolen amp etc}

Why don't you post the ad that was posted that you actually bought the amp from, instead of an original ad from 8 months ago.

He said he bought it in person, not from the ad.

Just a slimy thing to do, to try to eeek out a few dollars more. He sold the head cover for $100, now wants to sell the COA and manual for $200. Which makes zero sense for anyone to buy

Hey Stupid, I've had the amp about 8 months....get out!

Definitely a dick move but nothing you can do about it. Just try to enjoy your amp.

No different than when I've seen guys keep footswitches to sell for more profit later.

Lousy thing to do on the other guys part. Not much you can do because in the end, he won't give it to you unless you pay for it, sad to say.
I'd just enjoy the amp and have fun. Not worth the stress, unless of course you are now trying to sell the amp.
