Will this hurt my amp?

Peavey 6505+. I pulled 2 power tubes, from the back, right to left 2 and 4. Used Alessandro bias and matching meter, tubes at 40ma each at idle. That's as low as she will go. Flipped to 8 ohm output into a 16 ohm cab. Is this ok? Sounds good to me, but want to make sure I'm not messin' something up. I don't have an 8 ohm cab.

I'm not sure what 2 and 4 locations mean, but I am sure you need to pull both the inner OR both the outer power tubes. They work in push-pull pairs

This. The only amp I've tried this with is an SLO, right after talking with Mike Soldano on the phone as my first SLO started popping fuses right out of the box(used). He thought it was power tubes, which it was, and suggested trying this to identify which tube(s) were the culprit. Also said to half the impedance, and inner/outer pairs only.

Thanks, I thought it was a left/right pair push/pull more so than a inner/outer push/pull. Put 'em on the outside. Still read 40ma. But with volume on 3 1/2 only go up to 60ma while playing, so I guess they'll be o.k.

8 ohms into 16 ohm cab is safe.

 Thanks! With all the pages of yes, no, yes, no..  I'll believe ya' and give 'er hell!

We need a Peavey Tech to chime in...I though most amps were paired inside outside but if wrong you'll hurt the transformers.

Yup, straight from Peavey, 2 outer or inner tubes, 8 ohms, and 16 ohm cab is ok. Thanks!
