I started to work out all of the details of the party with the studio owner hosting it. We're going to have load in be between 4:00 and 5:00 PM, and we'll try to kick things off by 5:30 at the latest. We're going to run two rooms this time. The main room is going to be the usual loud tone tweaking goodness you would expect from an amplifier party. The second room is where we are going to host shootouts. We are going to put modded amps up against stock amps, and compare similar amps and such. There is also a green room for getting away from the noise, and a kitchen area where we will try to have food.
On the topic of food, would you guys be willing to chip in a few dollars for food? I don't want to sell food, or charge admission, but it would be nice to have food costs covered by the hungry. just a thought.
The other topic we discussed is cables. If you have 100 people show up each with their own cables, it can be a mess. This is why we were discussing banning cables from the event. We will have a handful of speaker cables and power cables, so there will be no need to bring any cables. We'll probably just use a few Mogami cables as the standard to run amps. That way, nobody has to bring them, and nobody leaves with them. A pedalboard or pedals can be the exception, but no cables otherwise.
How does that sound?
