All mesa mks are very good if you get the hang of dialing them in.Dnt try to dial them in like a regular amp.Learn how the mk series works.Big tone payoffs await you.
My mkiii red and blue stripe coliseums absolutely destroy and crush it.Keeps up with pretty much anything out there today.180 watts of devastating power at your fingertips. 150 if you're simulcast.
Mine has the rhythm 2 mod which really makes them a truly usable 3 ch amp.Plus the mark series feels really good under the fingertips too.

I’m excited to get my green stripe back . I sold my mk 4 and mk5 and kept mk3 . Then it shit out lol

Congrats man! Can’t wait for some clips and comparisons.

I thought the consensus was that the MKIII sounded better without the GEQ? Mesa mark series amplifiers are as confusing as rubrics cubes - glad I just play 2203s ?
i hate these conversations as they make me wish i still had a boogie!

zachman turned me on to boogies in 82 when he picked up his first mark IIB with the fetron preamp tube. it might have been the best sounding amp in hawsii at the time!

he migrated to mark IIIs in the late 80s and the white coliseum he bought is to this day the best mark III i’ve ever heard or played. sykes, satch, randy, yngwie, gary, that massive gillis with ozzy grind…fusion horn leads, killer cleans. all there. after almost 35 years he finally sold it recently to a lucky cat in AZ.

i scored a wicker series 300 IIB head signed off by RS for $400 in the early 90s and had it modded to simulclass at the hollywood store. on a 4x12 half back cab with black shadows and EV12Ls i bought fir $350 with the anvil case.

then picked up a non eq mark III head for $600 in mid 90s

then a triaxis/395. passed on a bogner fish i could have picked up for the same price as the tri—$850–preferred the tri.

babysat a IV and a studio 22 combo for friends, and up till last month had my friend’s green stripe mark III combo at my place for about a year.

played the filmore, california tweed, and mark V side by side last month. enjoyed the V most but filmore didn’t suck.

all just good memories now.

Had a Mark III simulclass red stripe for years. It was a workhorse of a live amp and sounded great in the room, but I did have troubles recording the amp. Hard to take that blanket off the tone. I have since replaced it with a Mark IVb and I get a much better recorded tone with it, but I still miss the Mark III sometimes. I sold the III at a very low price, which I kick myself all the time for.

Ha ha! The only people who like a Boogie Mark without the GEQ are guys that own non-GEQ Boogies!
Not exactly, i've known a few people that have owned both and they say the non-GEQ versions are a little tighter, responsive. You can always put an EQ in the loop too, even though it won't be exactly the same, you can still dial out the mids enough for metal.

Personally, every Mark i've owned has had a GEQ. It provides a unique character to the amp.

Man if any of us sold anything more than six months ago, we apparently sold it for a very low price.

I bought my Mark III red stripe for $500 two years ago. Just needed tubes, otherwise great shape. I considered that a pretty good deal. But with what people are asking for them now, it feels like I stole it.

GEQ is a must for me. Only thing I might consider changing on the amp is adding the R2 volume mod. We’ll see.

What is the going rate for a MkIII in the US nowadays? Here in Oz pricing is utterly whack, e.g. people are asking 3k for a 5150.

Hard to tell between asking price and selling price sometimes. But it appears between $1,500 - $2,000 for GEQ models. That’s just from a quick Reverb look.

I sold my Mark III red stripe for I think $650 a few years ago. I still kick myself over that.

wish y’all could have heard brad gillis boogie tones live with ozzy. his tone and lynch ulak tour. the best live hard rock/metal tones i’ve heard, and i’ve heard a few….

I had a blue stripe which was my main thing for years but then I compared it to the mark IV and I was like Ok this one records better and is far more versatile. Great amps the mark IIIs and for years they were overlooked and underrated. Thanks to youtube they 've become popular and to be honest they rip

Why all this about the MKIII when u can talk about the IIC+/++ in all variants.

Is it custom to receive a memo from Mesa saying they received my amp ? It was due to arrive yesterday?

Yes… took them about two days after receipt of my last amp to send the confirmed receipt email. They’ve been swamped with service work. I’m sure you’ll get notified soon.
