An underpriced Mesa Boogie clone that's not very loud LOL!!!

mesa boogie?!?!

IMO it sounds like a pissed off marshall wants to sound. (I think this one came from Johnnyjellybean actually)

seriously I wish bands like Judas Priest would use them

One of the greatest amps I've ever heard. SLO, Wizard and Marsha. Different enough to want all 3 - greatest amps out there right now IMO.

They blow a/c ducts out of walls.....good enough for me.

Someone PM'd me and asked what I thought the differences were between the amps I listed - SLO, Wizard Modern and a Marsha.

For me I find the SLO the most articulate. Less gainy than the other 2. Less compressed as a result. Now I use 2 and have KT66s in one, and 5881s in the other. The 5881 is tighter and more raw. Very aggressive. The KT has really good bluesy cleans, fatter bottom end and a nice break up that is sweet and round.

Wizard (classic) is punchy, tight, and a very harmonic, clear gain. More gain available than the SLO, and it retains it's clarity. More compressed, but still has a rawness to it that I love. Classic rock Heaven.

The Marsha I heard is more compressed, but in a very good way, and has even more gain available. It can cover a lot of ground the 2 above don't get into. It's hard to nail a Marsha down because Dave can do what ever you want with it. It is the best higher gain amp I have heard that retains it's articulation and harmonics - great low end, lower mid, sweet rounded highs.

I want to add a Marsha to my rig and have basically the best rig I think I could ever have. I never heard the Marsha clean, but I'm sure Dave could get me where I would want.

I need to get serious and talk to Dave as I have the other 2.

Hasnt ACDC been using them live?

Yes, Marshalls converted to Wizards. Rick from Wizard actually tours with AC/DC and tunes those bad boys every night.

Me and shark diver were cruising from room to room at the LA Amp Show and I could hear this massive sounding sound coming from the Wizard room. We walked in and we couldnt believe what we were hearing. It was the Classic Modern and it was just huge sounding with the perfect amount of gain. The bottom was tight and the high end was smooth. Also it was very easy to play. Even with the gain maxed out, u can ease off the guitar volume and get the most beautiful clean Plexi tone u could imagine. I bought the Classic Modern and a 50 watt classic with matching cab on the spot and Tone Merchants is now a dealer  . I spoke to Reinhold Bogner at the amp show, and he was telling me that the Wizards have absolutely the finest parts you could buy for an amp and that probably warrants its high price tag. Me love the Wizards :D

Been playing Wizard since 98. Had 4 over the years, down to my favorite one, a 1995 Modern Classic. Loaded with Sylvania 6L6s, the highs glisten but still sweet. Crunches like crazy. The EQ spectrum is very modern with huge low end, abundant cut-through highs. But the midrange is more vintage like in its string detail and Marshall snarl. Lots of gain, but voiced more vintage due to its open uncompressed nature. Mine has about as much gain as a Recto on its Vintage Orange High gain side (not Red modern), but the feel is 100 % different as the Wiz stays solid as you turn it up and notes don't run into another because it doesn't have the Mesa gooey compression.

I'd get a Larry Dino for that kind of cash!

If the price was the same (its not), Dino hands down.

As I am in Europe, the price for a Wizard (with VAT/Customs/Shipping) or Dino would be pretty much the same.
