Wolfetone marshallhead vs MCP Afawyu vs BKP nailbomb

Which of this has more of a natural tone (raw), bigger, crystal clear and straight in your face when high gain...and being more reactive to your picking from hard to soft ?
 
I'll second this, as I'm at least interested in Marshallhead vs. Afawyu if anyone has experience with both of those in Les Pauls.
 
That depends on a lot of things...

My listing order would be:
1) Nailbomb
2) Afwayu
3) Marshallhead

Marshallhead is brighter and has a lower output but sounds good with gain and is definately more raw. Cleans up great with the guitars volume.
 
Afwayu is well balanced, thick and clear modernish tone pup, high output. Good tight lows and really smooth. Nothing in the tone dominates the other, just perfectly balanced.
 
I think the Afawayu is very bass heavy. I never liked and BKP's so I'll leave it at that. Wofltone's Marshallhead is made after a PAF that was a little over 9.5k. I won't go into the design, but I'm very familiar with it since I'm friends with "Marshallhead" and have played the 57 goldtop which had the 9.5+K PAF dozens of times. I would use the 57 when we played Metallica and Helloween songs. It was killer sounding. I think the Wolftone would would react the most to picking changes solely because it is not as hot as the others and reacts differently.
 
I have a set of Detroiters in my 86 Jackson, I think the bridge is 9.5K? Very open, PAF type. I've been told that the Marshallhead is similar. I'd go with the Wolfetone out of your options.
 
Thanks guys....the marshallhead by wolfetone is close to a duncan JB style ? Or it has its own character ?

So the detroiter by MCP model is more suitable to compare to the wolfetone marshallhead ?

i have a BK holy diver for sale if you are looking for a "JB" type tone... just FYI. i think the detroiter i had was around 12k... not really like a JB.. cool p/up though.

They are very similar, I've had both in a LP. Detroiter is slightly hotter and has more mid grind, Wolfetone is more clear in the mids.
Depending on the day you would like one more than the other ;)

Marshallhead and Detroiter are hot PAFs so more Led Zep, Van Halen sound... Afwayu and Nailbomb, though I've never tried them, are much hotter 15k+ and from what I hear on Youtube, have more of that fuller angry 90's sound.

That seems like a better comparison, i.e. the Detroiter and the Marshallhead just based on specs. Sounds like from your description that the Marshallhead is slightly more PAF-ish and the Detroiter slightly more pushed.

I asked Wade for somewhere from Warren Haynes Govt Mule to early EVH tones in an HH Strat and he suggested Detroiter.

For me, I think I know where this will go. So I should prob just buy both and do my own comparison. :thumbsup:
 
Used the Marhsallhead and the Nailbomb previously.. Nailbomb for me.
 
So does any wolfetone marshallhead user find themselves also crazy about BKPs black dog, VH2 or holydiver ? The huge thick and raw tone ? But which BKP in particular ?

I've had various BK's but none you've mentioned, and I did have a Afwayu but liked the marshallhead the best. It had an organic, throaty, grunt that the others I've owned didn't have. It's lower output though, which I like but others may not. With that said, clarity is better than the others I've tried
