I picked up this used 2021 Gibson SG standard last week...it arrived today.

It was upgraded Wolftone pickups, Jonesyblues 50s harness and locking tuners. The soft case was also upgraded to a Gator hard case.

I had never tried Wolftone pickups before. I have heard a lot of good things about them. It has a Marshall Head in the bridge and a DR Vintage in the neck.

The bridge pickup is an Alnico IV, 9K. Its very crisp and clear. It has an incredible rock tone when pushed with good OD.

The neck pickup is an Alinco II, 7.5K. Its warm and fat! Gives a very creamy tone...seems to sound better with more OD you throw at it.

As for the guitar...It's incredibly light (6.75 lbs) The neck is a medium C carve, not a 50s, but not super slim. It sets up really well...being PLECKED certainly helps! Overall, a great quality guitar that sounds incredible and plays great too!!!

Nice! I too am a fan of the Marshallheads. I have a set in a Les Paul and I couldn’t have been happier to get those burstbucker pros out of there. I put the Marshallheads in back in ‘20 so it’s safe to say the honeymoon is over and I have no desire to replace them.

I have the same guitar, it's my #1. I've got a 920 Customs wiring kit with PureTone jack, CTS Pots, paper in oil caps, switch, the whole nine yards. Got an SH-5 Custom for the bridge and a Pearly Gates for the neck. But, I haven't had the heart to get it all done because it sounds so damn good bone stock, (even with the PCB control layout). It's got a bark and nastiness to it, and I've come to appreciate driving those lower output pickups harder, vs high output pickups. The neck is like heaven. Its rounded with the perfect amount of meat, and nice and wide. I love it.

Put Gotoh locking tuners on it, and Tonepros hardware though. They actually cut the nut well too. WON'T go out of tune! I've owned 3 SG's, this one's the best I've ever played.

Wolfie makes amazing pickups. I didn't know that he made an A4 Marshall head. I always assumed those were wound with either A2 or A5. A4 is an interesting magnet, though. Beautiful guitar. Enjoy.

I’m mistaken on that. The Marshall head is an A5

I've got a 2017 SG Standard Gold. I put a Wolfetone Timbre Wolfe with a ceramic magnet in the bridge and that thing is a BEAST!

Nice score! I run the Dr. Vintage / Marshalllhead combo in my LP-style Tatalias build. Love that set-up. I did swap the MH out for a while with a WCR JWP Ironman thinking I’d be happier with a bit more push. While the Ironman is a great pickup, I went back to the MH - gonna keep it that way.
