During Covid I purchased a little practice amp; H&K gm40. Ehh. Is all I can say. I got the 2x12 cab with it and ehhh. Just ehhh. Hard to get fizzy out. Recently I did a stupid podcast with a local guy in town and I wanted things to be easy so I brought the GM40 and brought the Marshall 1933 1x12 extension cabinet with a celestion G12-65 speaker. Dayum. Totally different amplifier tone. Actually usable. And light weight.

I can confirm. I've had one. Inherently fizzy that I couldn't figure how to dial out. So I returned it and got a black spirit 200 amp instead to see if it was any better.....same Inherent fizz.

65s are killer speakers...every amp I've owned has loved them. Maybe not the best for metal, since the lows can be a little loose but every other style works with them IMO.

Unlike many others here, I love H&K stuff.

Generally speaking though, they are a bit fizzy and speaker picky.

You have to dial the treble and presence really carefully. a 65 is a great pick to dial that fizz back.
