Would this annoy you? Or would you still buy it?

Kind of annoyed but the price is pretty good...

So there is a guitar I am interested in that normally sells for $1300 new. I posted on a different forum that I was looking for the model and was contacted by a local dealer that specializes only in this brand with a price of $750(plus tax).

I have bought parts from them before. He told me that it is a brand new factory second that has a pinpoint sized dimple on it. I liked the price and asked him for a pic of the dimple to make sure it wasn't something that was easy to spot.

Here's how the rest of the conversation went:

Him: i'd open the package, inspect, make sure there is nothing worse than tag states, and do a plug in test.

Me: That price would work for me as long as dimples aren't too crazy. Is it a factory 2nd? Does it come with a gigbag or case? Do you think I could get pics of the dimples?

Him: if i have to start taking pictures price is going up, no longer an easy deal. but you're close enough to pick up. case, factory second

Me: Got it. I'll have to give it some thought then. Time is limited(3 babies at home). I would hate to drive to meet you and find out the dimples are a deal breaker. I hope you understand

Him: it's only 15 miles. 1 dimple, 1mm, that's it, if you can find it you will not care.

To be honest, I'm kind of put off that this guy won't take a pic of the guitar. In today's market, I would imagine that he would take the pic to get my business. I don't think asking him to take a pic of the guitar(which he would have to do if he was going to post it on his website to sell) is too much to ask.

I'm thinking of walking away from the deal because that doesn't sit well with me. I don't want to waste over an hour of my time to check out a guitar that might have defects to turn me off.

A lot of guys will disagree with me here because it's a seller's market but I'm always of the mindset when I sell something, I want to give them Mercedes service. That old tired story of Randall Smith talking about his boyscout carvings hits home with me. You either do something right or you don't do it at all. And if a seller isn't even willing to give you the respect of taking a few more pics, then he can sit on it

Fuck that, wants to charge for pics. Red flag to me. Even if it's as described, fuck him

i see both sides, but i think it's kinda shitty to not take a pic. still, 500 is 500. worth an hour if you really want the guitar.

Tell the guy to shove to the guitar w/ it's dimple, up his ass

With you there, man! not a lot of money in the scheme of stuff we buy and sell here but still! I know it's a pita for a seller to take endless pics of something they're selling for a lot of guys who have no intention of buying but the seller is the one putting it out there. Man up and sell it, imo!

The company I work for is a financial company and makes billions. I'm not exaggerating. They pay us dirt but the sales people make 6-7 figures each every year. Free all paid trips to Bora Bora and Maui. And they SHOULD. Those guys take an ass beating to make that money for my company and they keep me in a job. But they sell it. Never see any of those guys acting like their shit don't stink and our clients need to kiss their asses. That's the way you make a sell and guys like me just don't have that thing to do that. I'm too honest. My dad and sis have it. They could sell sand to an Arab. I'd be telling them they didn't need it. I'm such a f'ing sucker! haha

On one hand, taking and sending a picture with a phone is literally just a few seconds of work, so it's odd that the seller wouldn't do that or would charge for it. On the other hand, it is a pretty large discount, so if I really wanted the guitar I probably wouldn't be too picky about the dimple in the first place, personally. Strictly economically, it shouldn't matter if the seller is an asshole, you're just trying to get something you want for a price you want to pay. But, I can understand the seller's attitude being a huge turn off.

But you're so right! Maybe I'm old school but nothing irritates me more than some dude buying an amazing old guitar and hanging it on a wall like a piece of art. I understand that's their right an all of that but they're instruments. Like a paintbrush. They should be creating art! And if you don't know how to use a paintbrush, then leave it to Bob Ross! hahaha

Shouldn't be too much of a problem to take a friggin pic right?? Don't get it..

I would give him one more chance. Tell him your ready to buy but you would like to see a picture, tell him if he cant send a picture your going to move on. Even CL ads have pictures.

If he won't take a few minutes to het you pics, he definitely won't be providing customer service if there's a problem after you get it home. I would look elsewhere.

As a small business owner, I could give 2 fucks if you buy the guitar. Someone else will buy it and I didn't need to take time to unbox and take pictures just to save you driving 15 miles.

Technology has made people too fucking entitled.

YOU MR>SALESASSHOLE. YOU are whats WRONG with the world today fuckface. Take a fucking picture of the guitar asshole. then fuck yourself.
HAHA! Truth, man!

1,000,234 guitars currently for sale in the USA.

890,743 buyers actively seeking guitars to purchase in the USA.

Simple economics will suggest he should have taken a pic.

You're the seller-putting it out there,. If you don't want to sell, horde it and quit complaining that someone hasn't bought it because you aren't even willing to give them the respect of responding with a pic. Maybe that's why you're still a "small" business owner. Def don't see Randall Smith or Peter Diezel complaining. Those guys are stellar in their service. I'm not even a Mesa or Diezel player anymore but would have no hesitation whatsoever to buy those guys' products because I know they stand behind them and are class acts

Sounds like he saved you the hassle of selling it for a loss 2 weeks from now.

This is an easy one. I would tell him that it's no problem then. I would gladly pay you $50.00 more for it if you take some pics. Once I see the pics and know it's only the one dimple we can arrange to meet.

If he's too lazy to take a few quick pictures in this day and age than I'm too lazy to buy it!
